Wonderful message, Jaybird. You are so right that things are of no value and what we can take with us beyond the grave is the love and faith that we invested in while living on Earth.

Excellent theme here and so true. The real gold in life are our friends, family, pets, memories etc. Possessions do not make us happy. This is a poem that reminds the reader what is important in life.

As I get older, I worry less about what I will leave behind. My one rule is, "don't leave out things you don't want the kids to play with and break". In reality, does it really mean anything to anyone but to ourselves? Even then, are possessions that important, as you so apply put in your poem. Best wishes.

I agree with the following paragraph says. " Don't spend your time searching for wealth, or things we have to leave behind.
Seek love and friendship, guard your health,
ennoble both your soul and mind."

Enjoy life today. Cherish your friends and family. Be royal to your soulmate.

Thanks for sharing

Very nice look at possessions we cling to. For some their worth is calculated by what they own. The newer, the more precious. If we worship things, we lose sight of God and His Kingdom.

The author's words are a reminder, clear, encouraging and creative. I pondered on the words of this poem and thought about how unimportant
it is to hold on to possessions! The poem flows and connects well. Hope
you are doing well and having a great day!

Another fine poem, and below stanza really explains the true meaning.

These are the things not left behind.
They will be with us, past our doom.
Our faith and trust, for all mankind,
stay with us even in our tomb. [this is a great moral of a poem]

Hi Jay. You have again written a poem full of words of wisdom. 'Possessions are dead things,' my cousin once said to me. Her words have always stayed with me. She was so right, and now I see her words repeated in your poem. Ulla:)))

One thing about cremation, there is not room for assets. You are right in saying, if you put your riches in front of friendship we are doomed. So why do some people fight for what is left behind?
