Isn't that the truth! What we deem as treasure may merely be regarded as trash by the next generation. How much better to accumulate life experience and wisdom - and leave that as our legacy.

A beautiful poem and a wise reminder that things are ultimately all temporal, and will not accompany us into eternity. We need to focus on and be blessed by relationships. Well done.

-Your note and poem
are appreciated, jaybird.
-I like the theme of your poem
describing how it is better
to have friends than things.
-I like the line,
"ennoble both your soul and mind."
-A good concluding verse, too.
-Thanks for sharing it.

This is s very beautifully written poem. This reminds me of something my nephew said when he was a little boy. My sister and her husband were in conversation about not being able to take things with you when you die. My nephew says us can, us can we got a hitch on our car. I thought it was the cutest thing. So true. Value love and friendship. Our possessions may not be of any interest to the next generation. Well done. I enjoyed the read.

This is a good advice in an abab quatrain format. It reminds us that humans and God are the import things in life not belongings.
We need to keep our souls free to get to the other side.
Keep writing and stay healthy
Joan

Thank you for poetic reminder of what is important and what is not. After my mother died, I saw her wisdom of not collecting too much. Sending you my best today as always,
Sally :))

This awesome poem could only have come from someone who has lived long enough to gain the lifelong wisdom that is at the heart of such great advice. Chasing after worldly riches only leads t heartache and misery in the long run.
