Hello Jaybird, how wise you are. I think a lot of what I will be leaving behind and yet, as you say, does it matter? The trouble is they hold memories, but will mean very little to those who inherit. You have written yet another good poem, good form and meter and give the reader much to think about. Well done - warm regardds Dorothy x

Good point, Jaybird, I agree that you can't take it with you, no matter how hard you try!
I have no family and very few friends so they will not want what I leave behind, that's for sure! So, I hope everyone heeds your warning and reads this gem of a piece!
Have a wonderful day, Jaybird,
Jesse

Yes, you are right - there are a lot of things more valuable than material wealth - love, friendship, commitment and much more.

Don't spend your time searching for wealth,
or things we have to leave behind.
Seek love and friendship, guard your health,
ennoble both your soul and mind.

The old saying goes: "Can't take it with you." It is so true. Some people are so stuck on accumulating money, they forget about humanity and kindness. I've met the kind.

A wonderful thought pondering poem. Thoroughly enjoyed - thank you.

Too often people think that the best thing the can pass to the next generation is things, however, I feel that the best things we can pass on are a good legacy, good memories and the values that lead to respect from others.

Incredible poem, Jay, and so full of excellent advice. You, amongst all on FS, have lived a life far longer than any here, so you know what is worth holding on to and what is best left behind. Love and friendship is what we should all aim for. I love your poetry, dear Jay. Well done. Love and hugs, Sandra xxx

We all are disappointed when words or actions of others are not as expected. Sometimes, being ignored by friends, or failure at work, gives us a feeling of being worthless. As if this is not enough we run after worthless material objects. We ignorelove, relationship and what matters in life. I enjoyed your words of wisdom. Thanks for sharing!

Some really good stuff here. Advice that we could all benefit from. Very good rhyme scheme and meter. The last stanza really ties things together.

I really enjoyed reading this poem. It gives such good
advice. Unfortunately I am a hoarder, I wish I wasn't.
Another great poem from you. Keep them coming. All the best. Jen

Great teaching class about life! Your point of view is definitively wise and open our eyes to see what really matters. I heard a saying a bit laconic but real and direct; "coffins have not pockets", indicating that we cannot leave this life with anything material. Thank you very much for your master (and wise) teaching class! Have a wonderful week! God bless you!
