This sounds like depression setting in with the grief of the loss of a spouse or significant other. It shows the regrets of things that can't be changed or corrected from the past.
Good luck in the contest.
Keep writing and stay healthy.

This is a very emotional pouring of grief and loneliness. 'Death slipped under the door ..' is a very original way personifying death. All the best for the contest.

Hello Terry,
This is heartbreaking. Very lovely poem though, it made me feel something I'm just not sure what, which is a good thing. a very good job.

Loved ones will always pass on. The trick is to make sure that you make a point of expressing love and whatever feelings that need to be conveyed before this person dies. There's a great deal of pain and remorse in your poem. I felt it. Best wishes.

Wow! What a touching piece! It is sad and true, and brings out feelings that many can not phrase correctly. Very vulnerable and open, and very beautiful.

This is a nicely written poem. Very sad but touching words. Not forgotten not amended . There is no joy there is no bright only sadness and the quiet.

Sometimes we need quietness to write or to think about our problems. I find a nice quiet place when speaking or praying to God. You are speaking about someone dying in your poem. The atmosphere does become silent when that happens.

Exceptional
This work has reached the exceptional level

I usually have trouble following the meaning of poems especially if the rhyming is not obvious. Not this one though. This one touched my heart as my husband we thought was healthy just didn't wake up one morning. The easiest way to go for him not so easy for the rest of us. And yes grief seems silent from missing his voice. This is the first time I have printed a poem to save. Thank you.
