Your 'lucid dreaming' combination of fact and fiction sounds like your own entertainment system. I'm pleased you have good people in your life, and sad for you that you lost Audrey... but she still visits is good.
Watching Sunny's expressive tail has triggered an interesting philosophical imagining. Wouldn't it be revealing if each human had a tail to express emotiions? Yes indeed - some might be curly, some might be bushy, some would wag, some would droop. I bet a lot of people would keep their pants on so their tail didn't give them away.
It seems our human communications these days have mostly become devious, or repressed, or misinterpreted. If only we could see each other from the inside out, and honour the honesty revealed, not just surface looks.
This is the key comment in your train of thought: "What a different world it would be...and become, (insert comma) if these signs were listened to and paid attention to and honored as true feelings!!"
Paying attention to and respecting others is the key to communication. You have hit the nail on the head in your tale of tails.

There's a word needed in this line: But, the truth is, I don't know if (I) will like it or not until I find out.
That is the essential 'problem' with honesty - how will people handle it?

Lisa, I loved what you say in this review!
You offer a lot of common sense notions that set you apart from the other reviewers!
I especially love your commentary on tails and how they would be perceived!
The men might keep their tails in their pants, that is funny but absolutely true!
The essential problem with honesty is as you say, how it will be reacted to,
Thanks for offering your honesty I love it and for who that you are!
Have a wonderful day, my true friend!

I must admit I have done a bit of a search on YouTube for Rider's of the Purple Sage, Trip the Light Fandango and couldn't find it anywhere. So if you can send the link that would be awesome.

Yes a few decades ago I read Carlos Castaneda's A Yaqui Way of Knowledge which took lucid dreaming into controlling the direction of dreaming. A good book and a few folks took it too far when mingling the methods with psychedelics. Emotions are extremely powerful and can cause all kinds of good things, or unpleasant things. Luck of the draw, or divine providence, hard to say.

The tails reminded me of the movie, Avatar, where in deep sleep people became Na'vi who had long, sweeping tails, and pointed ears, and in many ways were much more capable than humanoids.

I like the subject, and look forward to hearing much more about your lucid dreams.

Always great to read and review your work. :))

This is an interesting thing to consider. I like the conjecture.

The piece is fanciful and entertaining. The words are light and expressive. The tone is conversational. The pace is good.

Suggestion:

I would put forward that the tail is not the main signaling device. I have seen dogs wag their tails while growling. A much more reliable measure is the ears. Ears laid back, perked, fully relaxed. Maybe I feel this way because the ears are closer to the mind. Also if you look at the ears your view is closer to the business end.

Thanks for an amusing read.

Here my friend is your simple answer. We all have a method of discovery that is infallible; the eyes have it. A person can wear a false smile and speak falsehoods all they like, but the eyes do not lie. I know you have heard this before. Please believe me, the eyes are powerful. I once did an experiment with a woman I hardly knew, whenever we would talk, I would look into her eyes each time I said anything to her, and only spoke truth to her about whatever I felt. I eventually had to tell her that I was very happily married and no I would not leave my wife for her. The eyes are powerful, concentrate on that and watch what happens.

And interesting bit of speculation here, Jesse. I wonder though, if we already have it all over cats. With our facial expressions and, ultimately, with our words, we are capable of expressing our emotions much more broadly . . . and, if we're honest, more accurately. Aye, there's the rub. Our failure to reveal our true emotions isn't hindered by our capabilities, but by our unwillingness.

A truly interesting topic. Well done.

Peace, Lee

It could be quite disturbing until I got used to them and then I just lay back and enjoy the trip!--Jesse, this sentence might be better, more clear, without the 'could be'. For instance: It was quite disturbing, until I got used to them, then, and learned to lay a back and enjoy the trip.
Just a thought.

Interesting ideas, especially having a tail to truly express our feelings, though I am not convinced I'd like to know how everyone around me was feeling all the time. I also like the idea of being able to connect more deeply with loved ones, especially those who have sadly passed, through dreams. If I was going to change anything, I'd say fewer exclamation marks.
I do really like the sentiment behind the last paragraph.

Apologies, I am new to FanStory so just learning the ropes. Your piece came up as a suggestion to review and the title seemed interesting.

Wonderfully penned essay. It is interesting a well as intriguing.I don't have any issues imagining all the people in the world with a tail. We all had it. Darwin will vouch for it from wherever he is!:) They fell off during one of the stages of our revolutions. The animals express their emotions by wagging, lifting their tails in various motions. You must dream. Dream big! And live it. After all a dream is your creative vision. Much enjoyed your unique post. Thanks for sharing.

Yes!! Darwin knew and I had forgotten until you mentioned it here in this fantastic review! You know well about these things and so does David, my friend, and caregiver! I can't wait to tell him today!
I agree with you that dreams are our creative visions!!
Thank you so much for this unique and historical review!
    Have a wonderful day,

I'm having trouble imagining all the people in the world with a tail. I'm not sure I hadn't just rather stick to facial expression regarding how they might feel about things, but I did get a good laugh. It is interesting that cats show displeasure by flopping down their tail while dog show pleasure by using the tails. I always thought tripping to the light fantastic meant dancing, but you've come up with a whole new concept of it, which seems to fit. I enjoyed your fun piece. It worth giving it some thought.

This is an intriguing post and I find your musing, as you call it. Interesting. I have had out-of-body experiences and also lucid dreaming. They are different but both are extraordinary hand I can not control either of them. It happens when it happens and all the preparations I try don't seem to do it. Neither of my types of experiences sound like what you're talking about. I am interested in learning more so keep writing.

If I were you, I would combine paragraphs 3,4 and 5. I would combine 6, 7, and 8 and then combine 9,10 and 11. I think it would give you a tighter article. It was interesting to read you work.

I think your musing are interesting. I have had similar dreams, my wife died 3 years ago, so I can relate to that. We had 7 cats during our 45 years together, so I loved the image of the cat tail on people, but unlike you I have out lived my friends and I am the last of my family, my advice would be to share this with those close to you. Good Job.
