James,

I hope you had a pleasant Christmas.

You have much food for thoughts in this introspective and soul -searching story.

I think many of your wonders and ponders touch upon the four self-images:

How you see yourself
How others see you
How you perceive others see you
How you perceive you see yourself.

For me, the self, I am most concerned is how God sees me. In essence, this self dictates what I do and say. I seek God's approval, and not man. Of course, I follow the laws.

Regardless, I immensely enjoyed this poem. It gave me the opportunity to look within.

Thank you for sharing.

Thanks so much, Joan, for this food for thought review! I love your concept of the four self-images! Each of the four sees the other for who they are whether it be me or somebody else!
You have your version of reality and I have mine. As for me, I don't need anybody's approval whether it be God or anyone I happen to know!
I am so glad you enjoyed this and that it gave you an opportunity to look within!
I appreciate your outstanding review and exceptional rating!
I had a nice Christmas, how was yours?
Take care of yourself, my friend,

Good morning Jesse. I finally got a chance to review this, and found it a truly fascinating piece full of novel perceptions and some thought-provoking ideas. I agree with you, it is nice to know what people are really thinking, and perhaps some involuntary signs, like a flopping tail, could be revealing, but it is my conviction most people already give quite readable signs about their true feelings, regardless of the words they are speaking. As you grow older, you learn to read the signs more and more easily. Body language is something you can study and there are experts who gladly give us clues about what to look for. Perhaps you'd find such a study interesting. As for lucid dreaming, it is usually fun. Enjoy the ride. Thank you so much for this well-written and most interesting piece. It sets the brain to whirling with the possibilities. Merry Christmas!

Good evening, my friend! It took me a while before I noticed a new review had come and I am so glad that it came from you! You give a detailed commentary and it is so true what you say about body language telling us so much already!
I just like to play with ideas and I still think it would be fun and interesting if we all had tails! Studying about it would take out all the fun in my estimation!
I love how you say that my prose piece sets the brain to whirling with possibilities!
Happy holidays, Miss Merri you are a loyal companion who strives to be honest in all you say and do!
That includes this review for which I am thankful!
    Take good care of yourself!

Great post. I remember the book by Carlos Castanada very well and his acid trips. ALL-TIME FAVORITE!!!!!!!!!!! I love it!!!!!!!!!!! I would say that total honesty on how people feel about others in ALL situations would create chaos and animosity because our hearts are not pure. Also, body language is perhaps the equivalent of the tail! However, more authenticity and transparency is also needed between people. Good job.

Thanks, Tim, I am so glad that Carlos's book was your all-time favorite! I would have to agree that body language is similar to the idea of us all having a tail! Thank you for your kind comments and for reviewing this post from the past!
    Have a wonderful week,

This little essay asks a big question. I think if one hides his/her true feelings about things then they are note really liked for who they are but who people want them to be. I think family will know you the best. They may see through some things others don't.
Being yourself is what you should always be. I think poetry lets you do that.
Keep writing and stay healthy.
Joan

Thanks, Joan, I needed your encouragement! You see me as I want to be seen and you are right family sees things others do not see. But also they cannot see that you have changed for the better once they have a notion in their head about you. So, good friends and close brothers are the best to turn to when you want them to reflect on your progress! Have a wonderful day and I will keep healthy and happy,

Hi Jesse, You do sound like you are on a trip growing up in the sixties I can relate. Your story is fun and interesting. Don't worry about others' thoughts, just be true to yourself. Since I now know God loves me just the way I am I try not to care what others think unless it is constructive. All the best, Laura.

Thanks, Laura, I like the way you think! As a child of the sixties, you and I know how it feels to love and live freely as we choose!
I do not worry too much what others think.
My close friends and brother let me know how they feel about me and still I do what I feel is best!
Have a special day, my friend,
    Jesse

Lucid dreaming is a fascinating topic and experience. If takes some effort and ability to accomplish. I have used it to help several clients handle nightmares.

Yes, lucid dreaming can be fun...yet it can also cause nightmares so it has its pros and cons. This is one of the reasons I have written this post so that I can make sense of what I am going through. You are too kind with your sweet comments, I am flattered by your caring review.
    Take good care of yourself,
    Jesse

I think those lucid dreams must be very comforting. I'd lie back and enjoy them, too. As for kitties tail, if we had a tail can you imagine the amount of people we would upset more if our tail lowered or bristled? Actually, that would really be an eye-opener and perhaps we would all change and be nicer people for it! I enjoyed reading this one, Jessie. :)) Sandra xxx

Thank you, Sandra, for this encouraging review. Telling me to sit back and enjoy lucid dreaming is the best advice I have had in a long time! As for tails on people, I think it would be really fun to watch their reactions to the bristling of one's tail! Don't you? As you say in this review perhaps people would become nicer and enjoy each other's company even more!
I appreciate your kind comments and I am really happy you enjoyed reading this!
    Take good care of yourself,
    Jesse

I love this so much, thank you for sharing such an intimate part of yourself. I enjoyed getting to know your thoughts and how they dance around, and I adore the atmosphere you created.

Also, jealous a little bit about the lucid dreaming - I am still working on it! Have fun :)

Hi Jesse. Honestly, I'm not sure what to make of all this, but it sounds enjoyable, to spend time in one's dreams with people long missed. I'm not sure what the spiritual meaning is of "lucid dreaming" but as a Christian, I would pray that it has God's blessing, and that whatever happens in your dreams, God is a part of it.
When I was much younger, I had dreams that I was flying, and it felt very real. They were the most pleasant dreams I ever had, except for a few where I, too, spent time with loved ones who had gone to their eternal rest. This didn't happen many times, but whenever it did, I had such a warm feeling, I wanted to return to that dream (but of course I couldn't).
When I was younger, I dabbled in hallucinogens and also read Carlos Castaneda. I read Ken Kesey also. I would never "dabble" in those things again, as I do not believe they are of God. My experiences were very intense. I would rather wait for the good things God promises.
As for "Trip the Light Fantastic," that line (or a close variation of it) was indeed used in the song "A Whiter Shade of Pale" by the band Procul Harum. It may have also been used by Castaneda, as you said, but I don't recall that.
Thanks for sharing!
