I love the atmospheric you've created here. I can just imagine Noah's daughter gently coaxing the owl into flight. Nice that you've framed it from the bird's point of view.

This is a sweet poem. I like the idea of formulating the poem from the perspective of an owl aboard Noah's Ark.
I need to point out that Noah didn't have a daughter, although he had a wife, three sons and three daughters-in-law. I'm sure he eventually had granddaughters, but not until after the Flood. There is no record of any other persons aboard the Ark.

My suggestion:

Trust in my creator
-->
Trust in my Creator

The two owls would certainly be making a lot of eggs, and hatching many offspring in the years ahead. My husband loves birds, but when I showed him your photo, he didn't immediately recognize it as an owl -- he thought it was a dog! That was because of its enormous ears, which give it a very cute appearance. I wonder what species of owl this is?

    Thanks for pointing out that Noah did not have a daughter. Maybe I can change to a granddaughter. Thank you for your suggestions. Elaine

    You're very welcome, Elaine. I'm sorry it took me so long to respond -- my life has been difficult, lately.
    I'm afraid that even if you changed Noah's daughter to a granddaughter, it probably wouldn't be more true to life, as the granddaughter wouldn't be born for a number of years after the animals left the Ark. But it's a sweet poem! God bless you, my friend.
    Love, Mary Kay xoxo

I've always wondered if the other animals on the ark were jealous of the birds, who got to leave and fly around while they had to stay on the ark. haha. Just a weird thought.

Love this! Love that this is an empathetic owl. Your language brings out the beauty of interactions between animals and humans and being on a boat headed to a new life.

Hello Elaine,
This is an interesting poem about owls and the part they played on the arc. I can't recall if there was just one pair of each bird or if there were more. I guess one pair would do it if they lived long enough. Anyway, well done on
your poem. Good luck in the contest.
Have a blessed day.
Tom

I love this poem. The owl in the photo is adorable. One of my favorite books that I read to my daughter when she was young, was "The Guardians of Ga'hoole". Owls are awesome! I love the Noah's Ark theme also!! Wonderful. Thanks, Theresa H.
