Jaybird, This is a very nicely written poem about your friends and so many have gone on in death. You used very good descriptive and caring words. Thank you for sharing my friend. blessings, Teri

I can certainly empathise with this. Your lines:
"It is the friendships that you keep,
that bring(s) forth a brighter day"
sum up the sentiment perfectly.
I find I'm beginning to lose valued friends even though I'm short of my eightieth year. I remember my uncle saying, as he approached his century, that his greatest regret was not having any contemporaries left to share reminiscences.

Friendships are the most precious things we will ever hold, they are there through the thick and thin and as they pass their memories live on, an excellent read, very well written****kahpot

I like this poem.

Friends can be forever. True friendship is the most valuable thing in life. Everything said is true.

I am impressed by the followings:

"It is the friendships that you keep,
that brings forth a brighter day.

Hold fast your friends, these warnings heed-
They are the ones we'll ever need."

Thanks for sharing.

Well I have no real friends. Can't find any you can trust. You are right. I agree with you. You did a great job with this poem. Life can be lonely at times and I'm hoping my boyfriend makes it. Thanks for sharing.

Excellent thought and poem friend, Jay. You have addressed a lament I have heard a few times from the aged, and that is the not so easy place of being the last one standing. It can be a pretty lonely place, and you have brought to the forefront the need to cherish those friends old and new.

Always a pleasure to read your work, so keep your pen to the page. :))

Hello Jaybird1,
Nice piece of poetry having lucid wording, smooth flow throughout from the beginning to the end with lovely rhyming scheme, and beautifully depicting 'Old Friends as a treasure because they are TRUE Friends'.
The last two lines are particularly noteworthy.

It's pretty tough trying to hang on to one's friends when they keep dying on you, and new ones take a lot of work, without seemingly any time to get acquainted, beautifully written my friend, I do agree wholeheartedly beautifully written, blessing Roy

This poem summarizes very effectively the value and importance of old friends. We can all benefit from such lasting bonds.

Nicely composed and presented.

Well done.
