Hi Shauna,
Hope this review finds you well.
I like this eerie description of the fun task of carving a pumpkin. I think your color scheme matches the inside and outside of the gourd before and after the artwork. Clean up is seldom as fun a the creative process.
Keep writing and stay healthy
Have a great day,
Joan

Pumpkins sure can be messy! You have crafted a fine presentation here, in both design ability and wordsmithing. I'm pleased I am viewing your work on a laptop so I can appreciate your cleverness at picking out the face.

Fantastic poem. I love the horrifying description of what happens to the pumpkins. It sounds like a horror movie, nice word choices. I also like the clear step-by-step account of the preparation and design, right up to the finished product on the porch. Very nice poetic form. Great color choices. Great art choice. This was a really enjoyable experience.

A cleverly crafted Jack o'Lantern - that must have taken ages to do! Much kudos to you.
Your trochaic lines are most effective in portraying the enthusiastic cut-and-thrust of hollowing out the pumpkin! They remind me of the dwarves' song near the beginning of The Hobbit:
Chip the glasses and crack the plates!
Blunt the knives and bend the forks!
That's what Bilbo Baggins hates-

Dear friend, thank you for the delightful review! To think my words conjured a verse from the great Tolkien; I am honored. "May the wind under your wings bear you where the sun sails and the moon walks." (Sending The Hobbit right back to you, wink, wink.)
