This is a sad poem, Portia. I'm sorry if you have experienced this in a past relationship -- I know that's what this contest is/was about, but sometimes people are drawn to the contests they feel inspired to write for. This was about 3 weeks ago, and you usually post more often, so I hope you and your family are okay. Sending love to you, and prayers up.

Always SUCH a relief to be out of a bad relationship. We women tend to hold on, hoping...Love your poem and the freedom it expresses. Very real. Blessings to you and yours Miss Portia!

This is a good poem. Sounds like a relationship with a narcissist. I know that all too well. It is very damaging dealing with a toxic individual. The wounds cut deeper that anyone, who hasn't experienced it, can imagine. I hope your days are brighter now. Good luck in the contest.

Amazing poem on love bites. Deep in the ocean is a beautiful opening which carries a lot of meanings. I like the way you use those simple words to make wonderful poem. All the best in the contest Kit

This is a good entry for the - Love Bites - poem contest.
It is effective in the message it portrays. The rhyme is good and
carries the poem through a love grown bitter and finally tossed.

Just one line seemed slightly forced, to me anyway.
A suggestion for consideration, if needed -

"Floating from - cheating and a broken heart;"
or
Floating in warmth to lift my broken heart;

Thank you for sharing and best of luck in the competition.

Unrequited love and dying love are often used with metaphors that are found in every day life. There's so many hurting people in this world that are looking for love, some are looking at all the wrong places.Your poem reminds us of the feeling of euphoria that one initially experiences when they find themselves free from a controlling spouse or significant other. Thanks for sharing.
