Your write gave me the shivers Gypsy. Yes it's a myth. But some women do collect men like trophies to feed their self esteem.
Excellent work dear poet.

Stay safe healthy and blessed

A fascinating and wonderful poem of a Japanese legend. Very well done. You, like Jorogumo lured your reader in by this kojiki poem with your brilliance.

Yuk, yuk, yuk, I'm glad I'm not a man. I do hope she only likes men. Well, in that case she's welcome to them.
But, joke aside, this is a wonderful poem and a form I like very much. You wrote it beautifully. Ulla:)))

I think a lot of countries have their myths and legends, and Japan would be among them, but the spider myths are one of the strongest one, because the larger ones, the females have been known to eat the weaker males, beautifully written Gypsy, blessings Roy

"Jorogumo's Web"
Even though this multiple Haiku.
(Kojiki)
Was short we written but highly effective.
I have filmed spiders.
(a beautiful black and yellow garden spider)
She made her home up under the eve in my front door many years ago when my children were young.
Yes,completely harmless.
So, I named her "WebbaBelle"
She was very beautiful and very well fed with borer bees for me!
I have owned tarantulas and handle black widows.
Also, Emperor scorpions.
And, these creatures can be very easily handled; as long as you respect them and don't hurt them.
And, then they won't hurt you.
...
I like it the fact this is Japanese and it comes with a myth.
My ex-girlfriend Nancy Esposito was a black widow!
Yes, for what she had done to me.
Maybe she was Japanese instead of Italian?
Thanks,
Ricky

Another fine poem, Gypsy--and that would explain my feeling like the male praying mantis, only I didn't even get sex before she bit my head off; she was a giant spider, not my wife!

Chilling write about a horror spider - as if regular spiders were not bad enough! I wish you the best of luck in the competition. You always put great stuff in your after-notes and I gobble them up..

This is an excellent and creepy little poem. I love these posts that are based on myths and legends. I think they are part of our heritage and should not be lost to time and indifference. Well done!

A very interesting lesson in Japanese legend.

The unmatched beauty of this cutey
I hope I'll not fall prey to.
But if there's chances for romances,
I then will find a way to.
