What an exasperating woman. He should just turn up at her house and ask when his pumpkin pies would be ready! And tell her he'll call to collect, she need not go to his place. He needs to make a stand. Probably is too kind. I can't believe her arrogance.

Damn that crayzee woman. Prize pumpkins are grown for pie and for the illustration of the October garden king. She can steal it and cut out the mouth and eyes and place a candle in it but everyone will know she did not nurture it.
Sad.
No wonder there is no man in her life.
It's a wild guess, I know. 3 to 2 odds I'm right.

Pie not likely. Funny about no man--I think she's after Scott, not just his produce.

Hardly a caper, it's outright theft. Clap her in irons, it's bound to be her. She needs to be 'raked' over the coals. Scott should save himself from being bitterly disappointed about his garden by banning that Sarah weirdo. Still, her proximity is leading to some good stories.

Considering that Sarah has never brought him anything but grief, I wouldn't think so. Shouldn't she have brought him some homemade spaghetti sauce or something to pay him back for all his produce? That woman!

I remember Sarah. Wasn't she the one involved in the great grape caper?

Liz, I had trouble with one sentence:

I'm having a bit of a problem understanding this: "There had been an attempt to abduct his pumpkin, as evidenced by its embracement by the splayed tines of a broken rake." Usually, I understand exactly what you are saying, but this leaves me scratching my head.

Everything else makes perfect sense.

Meaning that the rake tines were splayed on top of the pumpkin, as if in an attempt to grasp it. If another reviewer mentions confusion, I'll rework it.

Sarah didn't take the grapes--too much work to pick.

I have a orange cat named Jack. Funny. So, she finally got it! Persistent little - fill in the blank -. She could carve it up and make a jack-o-lantern. She just might offer him a piece on Halloween. You could inform her of the great stolen pumpkin curse. Make something up. Take care Liz

What if Chuck put another pumpkin out . You two could wait in the bushes for her. Funny picture. Two adults hiding behind shrubs to catch another adult stealin a pumpkin of all things.

I like your witty outcome. It would be great if she could come and deliver a pumpkin pie. But hold your breath. I'm not too sure of it. People who are too lazy to get a pumpkin from a store, is not likely to make a pumpkin pie themselves.

Exceptionally funny.
