Yes, indeed, after getting fired, there's not much to celebrate and no reason to fill the glasses with other than empty air. The betrayal is too great. I loved this senryu. Ulla:)))

This is an excellent rendering of words, akin to the sentiment 'we live on fresh air'. It is of course a much more delicately and beautifully written sentence, and provides the reader with a delightful poem to study. I think almost everyone could find something appealing in this one.

There is certainly a sense of emptiness or "empty sky" with nothing on the horizon after being fired. Normally one would either celebrate with wine (freedom?) or console oneself. A very thoughtful capture of conflicting emotions.

This is really good, Gypsy. It's optimistic, in the glass is still full, but rather than wine it is with sky. Not as nutritious as the wine perhaps, but perhaps spiritually filling.
Excellent senryu with just the right amount of humour.
