Oh, I can just see this, Liz! Too, too funny! It's true that dogs are no longer free to roam, and I guess that's a good thing, not because of cross-breeding, but for this very reason. I remember when we used to get "mutts" for free. Now the cross-breeds are worth as much as purebreds. There's something wrong with this picture.

Apologies for the yuck. I am averse to scatological "humor," but when antics of dogs are featured in a story, amusement trumps revulsion.

Oh that horrible moment when the lawn mower runs over the dog poo. I think you set this up brilliantly, and I had to chuckle at this twisted ending. A modern day fable whose moral is "Make sure you check the lawn before you mow it. " Or those guests will run for the exits. And you'll have to hose off the garage door. estory

ha! Haa! What a crazy scene it must have been! I wonder what happened to the Lawnboy! When it comes to dogs, they're not just sweet and adorable, but super hilarious companions. Bernie has proved his 'dogarheea' with. Thanks for sharing the amusing incident. Cheers!

Elizabeth,
You're always entertaining. I was mowing our lawn yesterday and found several gifts hidden in the long grass left by my daughter's dog, which we were taking care of. At least I knew who deposited it. One nice thing about having a fenced in back yard. Just outside the fence though we've had piles and piles of moose droppings, which look like deer droppings on steroids. Fortunately I don't mow there. Thanks for the laugh, have a great night.

Oh my goodness... I suppose it would have been helpful if Bernie had an owner, but since everyone seemed to be responsible for feeding him tons of "stuff", maybe they all should have been helpful. Not happening!!!

Mr. Phillip's surely made a "splash hit" with his new toy. Very funny story.
Back in that time there were few if any, lease laws so dogs were free to roam.

A Great Pyrenees knocked on our door one day and indicated that we were the family he choose to live with. Well, I immediately took him to the veterinarian to make sure he was healthy. The vet said he had heart worm, so he could not be neutered. They gave me some medicine and said maybe it would work, it did, but that's not the story I'm telling. He have a fenced in back yard, a little less than 6 foot fence. Our neighbors two houses down raised and bred greyhounds. When they would come in heat, my dog would jump the fence and go visiting. Our animal control in town got tired of catching him and just returned him, at no cost, we became friends. Finally the family moved. LOL
