Some lovely rhymes half hidden in this mix of metre. The best was undoubtedly 'who were/soother'. The end of the second stanza had a limerick like quality.

Thank you, Jim. It doesn't meet any form, I know, but it just seemed to write itself. I'm so glad you noticed the rhyming.

I did enjoy reading about your rainbow friend Yvonne. 'That old soul soother' Nature seems to give us these special moments when we are most in need of being taken away from our troubles. Lovely read, I wish I had a six left. Hope you are going okay, you've used your emotions well with this one, friend.
cheers,
valda

Thank you so much, Valda. I try not to write plainly about grief. I pictured tucking it away up there somewhere. Thanks for the lovely comments.

Scenes in nature tend to ground us as we realise that there is a bigger picture out there and our troubles are small in comparison, these scenes tend to soothe us, much enjoyed, love Dolly x

Hello Yvonne.

Rainbows most assuredly make good friends. Think about it. Every time they come around; they bring a smile. They never push and shove, they just stand there in their radiant beauty. Everyone could use a friend like that. Your poem is nicely worded and I would refer to it as a modified freeverse, only because That's what it looks like to me.

I like your unique form of six line stanzas and ending with a rhyming couplet. I think you're describing a moonbow. Those beautiful nature encounters can indeed soothe the soul.

I like that this is free form and you embraces it as such. This is something I need to learn to do as a poet! It seemed like an organized yet stream of consciousness poem all at once. A pleasure to read!

Your poem is both comforting and uplifting at the same time, Yvonne. I enjoyed reading it. Your lines flow smoothly, the words are well chosen and create great imagery. I could see everything as I read. The presentation is great--the image is perfect, the color scheme works well, and the rhymes are well utilized. I could see someone who may be feeling low thinking about a rainbow and how it would brighten his/her day. I like the way you referred to the rainbow as my friend. Of course rainbows have a special Biblical meaning, but this is personal to anyone who needs a lift.
Respectfully, Jan

This is a very charming poem and your picture goes so well with it. It reminds me a term I learned when I came to Maine when there is a halo around the moon, the call it a moon-dog. I have no idea where the term comes from originally. Anyway, I really like your poem. Nicely done.

I've heard the expression moondog, but never knew what it meant. Thanks for reviewing.
