A well deserved first place. Your poem is written with vivid imagery and accompanied by a touching photo. Remarkable. I agree with your sentiment. Well done Franky

There is something that should pierce the heart of every human being on the face of the planet...homelessness. Which coincidently is also a lack of live in our whole system, none of us are far from that place. Beautifully written my friend, good luck, blessings Roy

Yes it's very unsettling to me the great divide between those of us who have and those who do not, but as you said, most of us are closer than we like to admit to that fellow in the picture above.
Thank you very much for your kind review. Trask

This poem, The Life of a homeless person, sets the reader in the parade route as the have nots on the street look up from their sad existence to drive home the reality that, "except for the grace of God, go I".

This is a good entry for the contest. The life of a homeless person is a sad life. They're stuck in a rut trying to make it through another day.

You are welcome. I would appreciate it if you would review my Jessica's year of seeing nature story.

I'm reluctant to review works because I don't feel I have enough perspective

You have highlighted an important issue - the disparity between the "haves" and the "have-nots". There is gilt associated with apathy towards those who may be homeless through no fault f their own. Best wishes for your thoughtful entry in the contest.

I know exactly how you feel. It is hard not to feel guilty if you have even a little more than others. I keep hoping that the world will wake up someday and realize that all the people out on the streets don't choose poverty and homelessness. I think you're written a good poem with a good message. Good luck in the contest.

The Life of a homeless person brings to life for all of us the stark reality of the plight of the homeless. Our society is challenged with the unmet expectation of both those in need and those of us who have the ability to make a difference, even if it is just one person at a time.
