You are the master of these multiple viewpoint stories, and here you did another great job giving us the view from the detectives, the criminal, and the victim. Nice attention to detail setting the scenes, the people eating the delicious pancakes, in that laid back moment, kind of pondering the facts of the case, chewing it all over, so to speak. I liked the scene in the woods, nice and mysterious, a bit eerie. estory

It's a relief to know that Jackson made it back and is ready to take a rest from law enforcement for a time. I'm also happy that Agent Washburn is also on the mend. I'm sure Eugene will be discovered soon. Well done, Sally

This book has held my interest all the way through. I am looking forward to the next chapter.
I must say that you have a fantastic imagination and are a great novelist, for sure. I just finished reading your novella, What the Blind Girl Saw, and enjoyed it thoroughly.
God bless and keep you well, dear girl. You are such a blessing to our world.
My best,
Marie

Oh, Sal, this was an awesome write! You're moving the story forward, and at the same time, you've given us a tender and romantic moment between Detectives Sal and Jackson. And where would we be without some Southern cuisine in the story? You even make hospital food sound good.

I found some areas you may want to consider for revisions:

She let go of a long sigh at the sight of me and my overnight guests.

I'm glad Analiese is safe. And I see a certain criminal has left his DNA behind. Would that be Tony Alfanzi?

Thank you for the lovely review and generous compliments. The critique and helpful input is so greatly appreciated. Eugene is the assassin; Tony Alfanzi hired Eugene from prison. Remember the note with his meal? It said: What can I do for you? Eugene. More and it?s a tanker.
Sending you my best today as always,

You're very welcome, dear Sally. Yes! Thank you for refreshing my memory. Tony the (nasty) Tiger did hire Eugene. Tromping through swamplands, spitting wads of tobacco doesn't seem like old Tony's style, anyway ... he's a more sophisticated kind of thug. But I'm sure he'll get his comeuppance!
    Love and prayers,
    Mary Kay xoxo xoxo

This is another fine chapter. (Do you know that the Hebrew characters for the number eighteen spell the word "life"?)

Jackson's decision to stay close to you until you fully recover is certainly in keeping with his personality and the true nature of your relationship. The sincere love you include in ALL your stories is a major factor in readers' delight, whether they realize it consciously or not.

Even Eugene is still alive, which answers that question while maintaining suspense, as he is still a threat. Yes, "flagitous" crimes -- a useful new term to know.

I like the banter between Jackson and Ken, and am especially pleased to realize what "A safe house in the Arkansas Plateau" means. Ana will be well watched-over while there. Clever.

Superb, and aptly illustrated.

Ahhh, bringing Arkansas into it. Please don't make us hillbillies in the story. That's what everyone thinks of Arkansas. lol. Good chapter. Certainly keeping the nurses busy. 8-)

This is a great image. I wonder if other readers act it out, like do??? "I curled my lower lip in false contrition." Did your Maple syrup come from Vermont or the local grocery store?? I'm a little suspect of them telling where the safe house. This is turning another corner. Good job.

Vermont maple syrup. There is no other.... So glad you enjoyed this chapter. Both men are law enforcement and working the case. The Law's have connections in Arknsas if you remember from my book, 'Double Blind' (Just a hint.)

Good chapter, less action but a few lead-ins to the next. Should he have disclosed anything about the whereabouts of Analiese? Even general ones? Glad that Jackson's priority is his wife, probably unusual these days, especially with such a high pressure job.

I'm enjoying this chapter and look forward to a new one each week.I keep waiting for the BLind lady to be well enough to leave the hospital. It sounds like she is being treated well there and has Jackson not wanting to leave her.
