I don't want kids. My husband doesn't want kids. We don't plan on having kids. However, I don't think I'd had an abortion if something were to happen. With that said I think everyone should have the option to have one. It doesn't need to be advertised, the woman should have to shout to the world that she did it, she shouldn't be shamed or guilted. It should simply be a decision between her and her doctor. We never know what another person is going through. I appreciate your poem and your openness that you have to it regardless.

Thank you for sharing your view in this poem. Life is in the hands of God.
I like your closing verse:
"Life is precious that is why God created it
The Devil does not care so he has berated it
We must treat life with the respect it deserves
Showing the giver of life, it is he alone we serve."

Thank you. I am making a conscious effort to include God in most of my writing going forward. It is he after all who blessed me with the gift of poetry.

You well capture many peoples divided emotions here, mine included. I firmly believe abortion is murder in most cases, but at the same time look at the life those children would be likely to have. Great message and good rhyme scheme.

As a poem, I will read this as such, and so asses, not as any admission to what I personally believe or not believe, I have always stayed away from such. A poem should never teach or orchestrate sides. It then becomes a statement waiting for answers, instead of the telling, or portraying of your subject matter which paves the way for interpretation. Have you noticed the best poems ever are still being talked about, after hundreds of years...and still only the writer knows one hundred percent, what was really meant....the rest is to each, their own interpretation, to an extent.
Remember brother, my saying; ''A good poem is when 'something is said, without saying it.'

Having said that. I loved the angles, excellent rhymes, and great rhythm...all the attributes for the sixth star...well deserved. Nicely expressed. A strong delivery.

Have a great week, my friend.
Best wishes.
RG

Thank you my brother. I labored to not make the poem about my own personal belief. As I use the Bible as my guide I felt compelled to reference it somewhat. At the same time I endeavored to not try and exert the Bible's influence in a way that took away a person's right to make their own choice. I am well pleased by your wise and timely comments. I look to you and your standards of excellence to provide a measure of what to do or not to do in my writing. You have not failed me yet. I know that I will not always measure up fully, but I will never stop trying. Thank you for your comments.

What a true poem. It is so a sin to abort a child. Get fixed if you don't want kids it's better then making them suffer for your wrong. Who says they have a right the (women) to sleep around then make a dear child pay. I'm so happy you put this up. Thank you for sharing.

Thank you Eunice. I tried very hard to not make value judgements or issue out guidelines, as if I had a right to. Ultimately, it is up to the individual to make a choice that will either bless them or condemn them. It remains their choice.

Yes, it is up to the individual but that doesn't mean it's right. I don't care if the doctors told me the baby was gointg to be very disform and have no friends I would NEVER abort them. They will be condemn to choose to kill. Thank you again.

nomi338 your rhyming is really good
I read your feelings about a woman that is with child stirs so many emotions to bring life into the world; or abort the fetus. to me is a hard choice to make.
You made your poem for others to think about is not easy.

Thank you Gert. I hope that I tried hard enough to ensure that my feelings on the subject of abortion are; You must make the choice that will either make you happy for the rest of your life, or miserable to the point that you are filled with remorse forever.

Five stars for braveness, rhyme, and respect.

Also, in your note at the bottom, you say that as being a man, the decision should not be yours. You win on all levels! I am pro-choice and was not offended by this. I am of strong Faith and remain pro-choice as my right as a woman. It's a lot! You said it all very well. I'm happy I got to read this.

What I'm trying to say is, GREAT JOB! Also, you were humble.

Thank you. Men must never forget, the decision to give birth or abort is not now, nor has it ever been our decision to make.

This poem, Life, is well-written and hits on a current topic which never really goes away. Thoughts about destroying what God has created along with some people's reality often come to loggerheads at this point.

True. Thank you Bill for your great comments. The thing that men must not forget. Men do not give birth and some just walk away from the mother and the child, never looking back, claiming with a straight face that they never even knew that she was pregnant in the first place.

This is a very deep and thought-provoking piece you have created. You have successfully highlighted the difference between law and principle. Laws are made based on principle. And the principle here is freedom of choice. They do have the right to choose to end a life. But we also the right to choose to prolong one, not based on any of man's laws, but our God-given conscience. In the end, He is the Judge. Live and let live...well done.

Thank you very much. Writing this piece was not easy as I struggled to maintain a balanced view that hopefully would not offend anyone overmuch.

Bravo! I absolutely love your poem and I agree with you entirely. I do not agree with abortion, although, I feel empathy for a person who must have a baby because she's pregnant. But, I also am the adoptive parent of three boys who had their mothers aborted them, I never would even have known about them. I pray always for those women who allowed me to become their child's other mother. To them, I will always feel indebted.

Bless you. I raised my step daughter's son from infancy to the age so far of 22, my wife and I also raised our foster daughter to the age of so far of 25. To me these children are my grand children and have always been treated as such. If you did not ask, you would not know that we are not related by blood. That is because we are totally related by love.
