I just can't help the six stars!! You are a writer after my own heart. That was spectacular, Paul. I'm on to the next one in a few. I enjoyed every word. Thanks for the read. I'm a huge fan of your work.

Thanks, John. I think my hat size just increased a little.

Aha! I found the third one. That is a wake I would have liked to attend. I think I both knew and am related to some of the mourners. I suspect there may have been a Leprechaun or two involved in Pat's temporary resurrection. I chuckled all the way through.

Thanks, Susan. That was quite a wake. It took me a couple of days to recover.

I believe it.

Hahaha, this is brilliant, Paul, and you've caught that Irish spirit so very well. Nothing better than a good wake but having the corpse coming to life again must be a sure bonus. I loved it. Ulla:)))

This is a very comical poem denoting a Wake where your cousin is resurrected to enjoy his own wake. I'm a little miffed at the end. Was he really dead, again? Your words are well intertwined in this composition and rhythmic.

Yes, Ralf. Patrick is really dead, but you will be hearing from him again.

This poem gave me a chuckle--needed one today. It is unique and clever and I could visualize Pat and his drinking buddies. Really enjoyed this poem. Nicely done.

A rhyming romp of a poem! Best spoken aloud while tipping a bit of Jameson, I would think! I read it to my (half Irish) husband (sans Jameson)--and he proclaimed it the best darn poem ever....
Now if I can just talk him out of his new wish...to be embalmed with gin....
Slainte'!!!!
Loved the read, top to bottom!

This depiction of a drunken wake which literally woke up the corpse is both hilarious and brilliantly written. The end rhymes are unforced and creative. I'm sure this will be a contender in the contest.
The best of Irish luck to you.
Stay safe healthy and blessed

I must give you a high rating on your poem. It is quite the story about the fellow named Patrick McKee. I think they thought he had expired but he only had the three day flu.....well done.

The Wake of Patrick McKee
Paul McFarland I will say you definitely know how to tell your story with your rhymer. And this is so good about And they could not believe their eyes
When Patrick's corpse began to rise.
It looked around and scratched its head,
And then with shaking voice it said,
"Just pass me, please, a pint of bitters
