Chris,

I am deeply sorry for the loss of your brother and friend.

Your story had me in tears for your loss and the pain of seeing your brother on face-time. I am so thankful that you were able to travel to go to his funeral. My heart, love, and prayers are with you and your family. May God continue to bless and keep you and your family in His loving care.

Hugs...Portia

This was a stunning account of your brother's passing how you had to listen to it all occur. So glad you were able to travel and give him a final farewell at his funeral. A powerful account.

I am so glad you were able to get compassionate travel permission to attend the funeral and I am very sure the eulogy was loving and wonderful. It is hard to lose any family member, but especially during the present Covid19 concerns when not everyone can be present to offer condolences and warm hugs at such sad occasions.

So sorry for your loss of your brother Jim. It's so devastating to lose a loved one anyway but Covid restrictions magnify it that much more. Very beautiful writing and I am glad you were Able to attend his funeral. My sister passed in May of last year I couldn't go to her funeral and I saw her once for an hour the last five months of her life. So many sad story's during COVID.

Your writing is extremely good. The emotion and grief are so well presented that this reader feels the tug of sorrow and tears. A wonderfully well constructed piece for this prompt!! Thanks for sharing with us, Chris!!

That?s sad, we enjoy our grandchildren, and I think the kids need us.

yes I totally agree Have only seen my new granddaughter 3 times since March due to lockdown.

That?s sad, although we do FaceTime our elder daughter in Brisbane and the grandboys we have two locally and look after them a couple of days a week, that?s a blessing.
reply by the author on 14-Sep-2021
Yes I do get to see my other 4 granddaughters fairly regularly and help my daughter out when she needs me so I guess that is something

I think we are all feeling the effects pf COVID a lot more now as moods are quite low a d we are just bloody sick of it

Thank you, Christine, for sharing this heartbreaking story. I know from your other stories how close you and Jim had been. You survived the loss of your mother at such a young age and you were each other's steady comfort. How hard. Hope you do well in the contest.

There were formatting issues around the dialogue but it's up to you to change. (Each change of speaker should be a separate paragraph.) But I know you wrote from your heart and this was probably hard to write. So glad you were given permission to be there and speak at his funeral. Hugs and prayers.

Yes, I understand. I think the passing of a sibling is sometimes harder than the passing of a parent. There's so much more shared experiences with a sibling.

My deepest condolences to you, your husband, Lorraine and Anna, Christine. Good luck wishes in the True Story Family story. It must have been terrible to wake up to such a call. It was truly brave of Lorraine to try to help as much as she did but it was Jim's time. It was great that you were able to give eulogy. If you ever need someone to chat with, I was a Hospice RN for the last 12 years, so I do understand. Prayers, a white rose in memory, blessings to all of you.
