I agree.... and now so many people just say they didn't see it or it must have gotten erased....a new version of "it's lost in the mail". Life is getting sloppy and the finer moments of niceties and etiquette are slipping away.

Smiles, Carol

Someone just told me that thank you notes have gone by the wayside--I'm shocked!

The bride's mother has terminal cancer and has passed the expected "expiration" date--they're worried she'll croak right before--or during--the wedding! Thanks for stopping by--always nice to see you.

We have to adjust to so many things these days. Here in India they come and invite you or invite you over the phone before sending the invite.
And attending a wedding used to be a thing of pleasure.....

Yes, I agree with you. There is no keepsake with just an email invitation, nothing "special" or elegant, as with the carefully handwritten one on special paper, or printed ones, with time spent choosing a special calligraphy style and layout. The need for speed and "efficiency" reigns supreme.

That's too bad that the regular types of invitations are gone by the way of the dinosaur. Was it to save trees, perhaps? I would expect your son assumed you'd be there. Does this mean a trip to the west coast?

My son lives in Massachusetts, 2.5 hours from me. His bride's family lives on the West Coast--her mother has terminal cancer and has passed the expected "expiration" date--they're worried she'll croak right before--or during--the wedding!

That's why I wondered if the wedding would be on the West Coast. Thought I'd see you!

Yes. The days of gracious living appears to have been given a go by. I still have the invitation card of my own wedding. Simple and elegant. Printed on ivory cards, in Gold letters.sigh! I got lovely cards made sons wedding. But the list got shortened. But got lively eInvites made for (less) close family and friends. One click of the button. Gone a second! Enjoyed your interesting story. Thanks for sharing.

Elegance wins the day every time as far as I'm concerned : )
The world is definitely a different place since Covid rampaged through it. Fortunately for me I live in NZ and its impact has been minimal over here, our governments response to it being go fast and hard. Life had pretty much been normal except for a couple of small targeted lockdowns.
Your story give me a glimpse at the way the rest of the world is handling the pandemic.

This work has reached the exceptional level

What a story what has this world come to you should have already been a yes without having to answer and all those questions .I have been vaccinated myself but my daughter has not she is an adult and makes her own decisions seeing also she has a rare brain disease and who knows what could happen .But that is not the kicker like you said an invitation as the form of an email it seems to take away all excitement about what is suppose to be about unions and family's uniting .What has happened to society.Thank you for sharing your story !

Oh yeah, e-vites I think they are called. I find them off putting and cold. I would feel sad if I received an invitation with Covid instructions. Mask up

ohhhh nooo, that's too funny. Maybe they should just go on a death watch and send out invitations where the time is to be determined

Sounds heartless, I know, but my son had hoped she have been dead by now.
