In my opinion, an electronic wedding invitation is inappropriate. It is so impersonal. And like you, many may not check their e-mail or what happened to me recently, my e-mail went into someone's spam folder even though I and the other party have corresponded frequently.
It is a special day. While I did not think I needed to send his folks a formal invitation, I did so just so they could have and see it.
Gatherings at this time are difficult with covid and unfortunately, precautions have to be taken to protect one another from harm.

I stopped giving money to my
Grandneice and nephew.
On there younger years there mom would write thank you notes. When they could do it themselves I never got a thank you again. Getting a thank you note has gone like the rotary phone.

I understand your confusion about receiving the invitation in the mail. So much tradition has been discarded in these times that I would probably not answer the invitation, however, my wife would. I'm stubborn. ð???

Unfortunately my siblings learnt well from my mother, they seemingly never learnt to RSVP, it is like anything else, racial discrimination, poor manners, all learnt, language, but one can fix the heart, if we try. We can be good students...or not. Well done, blessings Roy

It is a sad commentary that wedding plans have had to change in the name of public health. Instead of chicken or beef choice, you have to be able to be contacted if someone at the wedding is unknowingly caring the virus. The joy in attending a wedding is now tempered because in the back of your mind you have to wait 10-14 days to be sure nothing was spread around. At that point you can breath and say "that was a wonderful wedding". Everything the bride and groom plans has to be thought through twice: is there enough social distancing? Would it be better to have it outdoors, but what about weather? What you dreamed of growing up for your wedding may not be possible now.
The internet has provided us with many good things, but it has also destroyed a lot of social norms. The electronic invitation has become the norm for birthday parties, family reunions, and weddings. What happens to the elder members of the family that don't have a computer or aren't tech-savvy to check spam folders? I just think it's so cold and impersonal. It's like getting a printed thank-you note. I hope your son's wedding is lovely and everything goes off without a hitch. Take care, Sally

I also wonder if your son realizes that folks with the vaccine can carry the virus. It would do him well to have all of those folks to have the test, too. This whole thing is a nasty mess. I would have thought they would KNOW the mom is coming. This world is getting weirder everyday!

How strange, I had an invitation last night (long awaited) from my son and his partner of 15 years!!! (they've both turned 50!!) I have a year to buy my hat though. LOL. I heartedly approved of my future daughter-in-law, and I'm delighted they are at last tying the knot!

I've bashed those who have failed to get the Corona vaccine for fear of possible side effects. But, I can absolutely understand those with underlying issues being afraid of taking the chance like Lauren. What a dilemma to have. I've often wondered what newlyweds could do with all the money it costs to get married. Especially, those who have done it many times. LOL. Thanks for sharing.

His bride-to-be wants to take me shopping for a dress to wear. I wonder if she thinks I might embarass her by wearing something inappropriate.
