A lovely example of free verse--graceful flow--natural line breaks--refreshing imagery--sipping salty air--ingenious! Love that briny froth. Fine work.

Hi Melissa, oh sweet girl does this bring back memories...
times living in Florida...I loved walking along the beach with my husband...

your so right about the sand sifting through your toes...
just the feel of walking on it...waves rinsing them off...only with the next step...starting over again...sigh...

I love your poem my sweet friend...and love the picture...very well written you...love you Linda xxoo

I hope you are doing well sweet girl...xxoo

Hi Sharon... yes, my imagination was running rampantly along the shoreline... just on the edge of the foam... oh, to be at the seaside right now! Thanks so very much!!

I lived beside the Caribbean Sea for several years and your beautiful poem has brought back so many memories that are very precious. This is a wonderful picture accenting your message, as well. I loved reading this.

Hi Janet. I am envious of your seaside experiences and wish I could spend more time at the beach with my toes in the sand. Thank you for your lovely comment!!

Hi Melissa,
I totally enjoyed your poem! We always took our kids to Prince Edward Island every summer when they were young... way back when, all of the 80's and early 90s. If you could picture tiny dog tracks beside those footprints in the sand, it would be me and our first cairn terrier, Annie. She loved SeaView Beach as much as we did. I posted a poem about her years back. We went back in 2020, and stayed at a terrific cottage with a gorgeous view and privacy.
"Sipping salty air
inebriates my soul." ... I agree 100% with this line. The older I get, the more I enjoy the ocean shore, the more I enjoy seafood, too!
"My toes sink" ... how well I know that feeling. Sometimes, you sink so far that you lose balance with the waves coming in against your legs.
"the edge of waves ~
the edge of earth" ... where land meets ocean.
"I resist the lure of thoughts
that would define me, bind me
to the every day." ... I especially like the internal rhyme of "define me/bind me"
"The moment is,
and I am...
it is enough." ... It's a special time, the relationship with an ocean that seems alive, a friend.
Very nice! Well-written!
Hugs,
Kimbob

I love the image you create in your words. I too, love walking along the shore with my feet in the wet sand. Excellent free verse form that takes the reader to the ocean and creates a good feeling, one of peace.

Hello mermaids. With a moniker like yours, I am sure seaside walks are a commonplace thing. I hope to have my toes in the sand before too much longer. Thank you so much!!

Awe, Melissa, this is a delightful free verse poem. I love those footprints, and the picture makes me think of a lttle boy walking on the beach along the sea. I just hope he is not lost. But your words tells me otherwise and a totally different story. Ulla:)))

Love the picture as well as the poem. You did a nice job on your poem. I liked it very much. Let's just relax in the quietness of the breeze. Get lost in our thoughts. Very good. Thanks for sharing.

Living in the moment is the best way to live a peaceful life. I love the ocean and the beach. Watching waves come in and move away is very relaxing. Having a house by the sea is high in my bucket list.

I love free verse. I used to write a lot of free verse until I found haiku and fell in love with it. But haiku is a kind of free verse too. Love your Ripples of Foam poem.

A marvellous post Melissa, there is something about water that awakens the soul, and the seas washing over our feet is really very sensous, somehow I think we all enjoy the sensation of it. Beautifully written my friend, thanks for the experience, blessings Roy

Hello Roy. I do long for a walk along the beach... just at the edge where water meets land. Aaah.. will have to take a two hour trip to Virginia Beach in the near future. Thank you.

We live near the coast, very few live far from the coast here.
