Estory,
I totally agree; everything in this world is broken.
Things are changing all around us and will continue to change; it appears for the worse. People are losing love and respect, and are our children are not being taught moral or family values.
Thanks for sharing the additional information in your author's notes.

Thanks for the excellent review and your wonderful words of support for my piece. I started this when the epidemic began, and the earlier parts of it are deffinitely rooted in the feelings of that time, but it kind of grew and expanded into an apocalyptic vision of the book of Revelation set in our time of today. Soon it will begin to move into the light of salvation. estory

You say "This must be the end." This is the beginning of the end. The end is downstream. We will not see it, But our descendants will. You have described, very nicely, those things that will lead up to the end.

Thanks for the excellent review and your interesting perspective on this piece. The end is closer than you think. "When you see the desolating sacrilege set up where it ought not to be, then you know the time is near." The desolating sacrilege is abortion. estory

It's a good poem and an absolutely fantastic explanation. I wish I could (virtually not in real life) walk through the streets and see what you painted.
Philosophically I both somewhat agree and disagree. "The end is always near" is both a book and a phrase I use to say we always think society is collapsing...and maybe it is, but just like rome was it will be reborn, one way or another.

You're right, ours is a broken society. Broken government. Broken laws. Broken security. They've taken away our police. They won't charge you for looting as long as it's under $1,000.00. It's unreal. You did a great job on this poem.

Thanks for the excellent review and your wonderful words of support for this piece. In the end times, it says in Revelation, evil will get the upper hand. We are witnessing it first hand. estory

Hi Estory,
Wow, yes it's a broken world... the news proves that case every evening. Your fine poem is a testament to broken lives everywhere... but where do we go from here?
" In the end, everyone must look after themselves."
Yes, unfortunately we aren't our brother's keeper much any more. We still must try though to lend a hand, offer cheer, listen to other's sorrows. If we stop, the world will end in darkness.
It feels like a losing battle, but that's what The Darkness would have you believe..
Excellent, thought provoking work!
Have a great weekend :))

Thanks for the excellent review and I am glad the piece was evocative enough that it brought you to that precipice, where you could look over the edge. Soon this series will go over the edge, and you will see what I believe is coming. estory

Effective use of repetition conveys the devastation. As to the note--it's begging you to expand on this compelling theme in a prose post!
typo: A broke=>BROKEN television set.

Thanks for the excellent review and your encouraging words of support, as always. This is a poetic series, I'm afraid, but my series Memories of this World still has a ways to go, and I am working on some new pieces for next year. estory

Looking forward to it!

Oh yes indeed, even the Stockmarket, the very essence of the capitalistic world is uncertain of the future, embracing a new religion of super efficient batteries replacing fossil fuels and somehow giving hope. But we can't glue people or relationships back together, all sense of ideals have gone, with new hedonistic pastimes, and no certainty of a gender base. Hopelessness everywhere. Beautifully written my friend, blessings Roy

Thanks for the excellent review, and I must say I think you got exactly what I was trying to get at here. No amount of compensation or effort from the material world, will have an effect on the shattered spirit struggling here in this broken world. estory

I?ve told people that I fully embraced Christ, because His cup doesn?t leak, whereas everything else leaks like crazy, little substance and lots ear worms.

Yes, estory, I can certainly identify with this poem. I now wish I had a six left. It so deserves it. I agree with you, the world has deteriorated at an alarming rate. I'm not talking about the pandemic which is bad enough. All values seem to have been forgotten.
You've written a very poignant poem. Ulla:)))

Oh, so true. When it all comes down, there will be total amazement at the fragments left, for what was valued, will be worthless, and that which seems worthless now...will be gold. We are truly living in a broken society. Love this!
Blessings...
