Oh good Lord! So Annie IS at the church with the others after all? Mason may have made a grave mistake telling Jon Annie was collateral damage.... Imagine! Jon has a chance to redeem himself. That was SINthia in the. blanket I assume? Hmmm. Okay....I don't want anyone to burn to death...but singed hair and flaming nerves of fear? She deserves it! Let's read the next chapter and see!

I couldn't burn anyone to death either. A few wanted me to write more about the heroics of saving everyone from the fire, but I don't know if that lends anymore to the story.

I'm with you. Hitchcock was a master of leaving a lot of the "graphic" stuff to the imagination and it was ever so much more vivid in my own mind!
I think, like Goldilocks said...your choice was "Just right!"

I'm happy that Mary is softening her stance concerning Jon; it's taking her some time to adjust. But Jon may die soon, and not by his own hand.
Mason is even more heartless than I thought, and Miguel is a murderous thug. Annie isn't just a hostage; she's in mortal danger, along with all of those poor migrants.

I didn't find any errors, yay!

Yes, it is all about to come to a head...some will live and others will not. Guess we just wait and see.

I'm scared to death for Annie. I don't know why she has anything to do with what's going on. She was just out with her dog when she got kidnapped, I hope that Jon has enough guts to at least try to save Annie! Great job!'

Mason thinks if Liz believes the ranch is cursed she will sell it and go back to the city. He doesn't care that she's a child...it's just a means to his end desire.

The action continues in this chapter. The bad boys Miguel and Mason are upto their dirty tricks. Mary and Faith are rediscovering each other. Where is Jon? What happened to him.? So many questions. Plot getting thicker.

I hope Miguel and Mason meet their match pretty soon and they get what they have coming to them.

I thought Jon had a gun hidden. Why isn't he using it? I guess he feels he's responsible for enough death? I guess more has to happen to change Jon to show he has become a different person.

Comment:
"Let loose of me." This sounded odd to me. Wouldn't "let go of me" be more natural? Miguel wouldn't say "loose" would he?

He does have a gun hidden but as you discovered he didn't use it until the next chapter....trying to save Annie.

Is it wrong that I wanted Jon to die? He has a gun but is still too weak and too pathetic to use it. Like that foolish woman wrapped up. They are beyond redemption. Good work writing them that way.

notes:

"You said babies. Were you just upset?"

- she said, baby.

Faith was referring to the original conversation with Jon when he showed up with Cynthia....Mary slipped and said:

?I don?t want to hear your lies. I?m not the foolish fifteen-year-old girl you left behind. I lived on the streets until Mrs. Bartlett took me into her home. I gave birth, and the nuns took my babies from me when they were two days old. I struggled to survive??

Thanks for checking on that though because I wasn't sure after you mentioned it.

As for Jon...the jury's still out!

So much happens in this chapter! I hope the agents following Miguel arrive in time to prevent disaster. Mason and Miguel are so evil! Great conversation between Mary and Faith. Looking forward to the next segment. Blessings. Carol

My favorite parts of the story are the emotional connections even though the story is about other things. Smiles, Carol

Chilling conclusion to this devastating chapter--the enormity of the pending mass murder is beyond bearing. I hope against hope they will be spared next chapter. Luckily, I'm a day in arrears so I know you've already posted it ... I'm off.

Mary stared out the window, [SUGG OMIT thinking and] reliving all the events in her life that had led to this moment.

She scolded herself for the [SUGG OMIT resentment and] hatred she'd felt this morning

[SUGG OMIT In his mind,] he envisioned men, women and children

Seconds later, a brick from the flower bed crashed through the glass door, [shattering glass piece=>SUGG SPEWING SHARDS] and splintered wood across the room.

Miguel is a horrid, cruel unprincipled man, much like the devilish boss he works for, they care only for money, and nothing for people. But I suspect you have justice in mind for these rampantly desperate men. But they seem headed for destruction, determined to take as many as they can with them. It seems like Faith wants to know her father. Beautifully written Carol. How's Matthew? Well done, blessings Roy

Thanks for asking about Matthew. He's holding it together but some are attacking him as if he could do anything about the actress staying in California instead of coming back. He's not that kind of guy! I am praying it works out for him. Smiles, Carol

Thank you for the kind compliment. Made my day!

Now you and I know I couldn't let those people die in that basement...no way! And we know that Annie is alive even though Mason wanted her killed... what's up with that? LOL
