Not sure what kind of evil witch this makes me, but oh how I derived pleasure from Jon's angst and Cynthia's fall from her imaginary throne! The two of them have been thorns in my side since the Inception! I don't think Father Jon has the...you know what...to kill himself. Mason, however? He'd turn both Cynthia and Jon I to holy BBQ in a heartbeat!
Cannot wait to see what happens next!

Can't decide on ole Cynthia's fate at the moment. She's lying in the hospital with a skull fracture.... I could leave her comatose forever. LOL

I don't have soft corner for Cynthia, but don't wish her dead. What is this Mason up to ? I also wodner what Jon is up to! Why is carrying a gun all the time. Praying with a gun?? Strange, unless he is going to be rebel and take on the kidnappers. Let's see. Thanks for sharing

Cynthia is about done for it sounds like. Mason doesn't care about anyone and he's going to have Cynthia murdered. It seems hardly anybody is real. Most all of these people are dirty. Heading to the next chapter.

Mason was using Cynthia too but she wasn't much of a detective and didn't figure it out. Mason is a mean and worthless excuse for a human being.

I'm not fond of Cynthia, but I don't want to see her murdered in cold blood. And what does Mason plan to do? Firebomb the church? Or poison his "partners" Jon and Cynthia with gas fumes? And where's poor little Annie?

Miguel is not only a dealer, but a total goon! Mason is like the original mob boss.

Thank you very much, Carol, for your concern about me. Yes, we were in the storm here in NYC. We're not usually affected much by natural disasters, so it was shocking to learn that 11 people (including a family of three, with a baby) were killed within the city limits, and dozens more, in outlying areas. The primary cause of death was flooding, in illegal basement apartments. I actually lived in one, about 17 years ago, before I married Jorge. It seems that there are at least 50,000 residents living in such places. It's very hard to enforce the laws on these, because rents are too high, subsidized housing apparently is too scarce and they really don't know where all those people would live, otherwise. The best thing is to try to bring as many basement apartments as possible, up to code.
We only suffered minor inconveniences; spotty utilities the day after, and no hot water for two days, resulting from a basement flood (we're on the fifth floor) -- the worst part was the damaged elevator, which didn?t work for most of the week. I have trouble using the stairs, and couldn't bring my rollator walker to my (routine) mammogram appointment on Tuesday; I use it to travel most places. But being alive trumps all these other problems! So thank God we're okay; praying for those who lost loved ones and property, both here and in the southern states.
Love and prayers, Mary Kay xoxo

Cynthia is in over her head now, and Miguel is still doing Mason's bidding. It's a good thing he's being followed. I'm glad Jon is repenting, but hope it's not the end for him. An exciting chapter! Blessings. Carol

Pete takes Father Jon back to his church. Father Jon contemplates his lot and confesses his sins and asks for forgiveness. He arms himself with a gun and continues his praying. He is either getting ready to kill himself or to confront the kidnappers.
Meanwhile, Cynthia believing she has information for Mason visits him and discovers he already knows what she is telling him. Miguel arrives soon after and she now finds out her real standing with Mason as he reveals his intentions. It doesn't look good.

Oh my goodness. Well, Cynthia is starting to see the truth now! Her greed has led her to be involved with something far bigger than she ever dreamed. Sounds like disaster for her - but maybe she will be able to escape, and then for once, be honest. Well Written. A gripping story, and you always know where to end, to leave us on the edge of our seats!

Sounds like we're fixing to have a barbeque. I'll have a thigh . . . oh, no, maybe a leg . . . or maybe both. LOL. Gosh, I'm a sick old hound dog. Thanks for sharing another fine chapter. :-)

Hmmm, it looks like it's curtains for Cynthia, but also I think that Mason is taking risks he shouldn't, I think that dumping, and by the sounds of it, is going to burn the evidence, but he's a cool one, I think ruthless and evil would be an apt description. And excellent post dear girl, What is Father Jon going to do with the pistol, one of two possibilities methinks, well done, blessings Roy

looks like Cynthia spoke up when she did.
I hope she is just unconscious (not dead). Now you let us readers with us wondering is the two gas containers are meant to burn Cynthia body, so its up to you Begin Again , if she wakes up
