Your poem is delightful. Its imagery pricks the imagination and propels us back to those warm summer days, playing in the rain and splashing in puddles. The picture is well chosen, too. Nicely done.

A very cute Tanka poem backed by an equally cute picture.I like the imagery you have created--sky, splashing water, blue. Very creative. Good luck in the contest!

Beth you have a great haiku to read,
but there are too many lines for a haiku, you only need three lines Look at the direction for a haiku-you will see that there are only three lines.

I was sure I'd already answered this, but here it is again. It is a Tanka and not a haiku so I think the line count is correct. Thank you for the reveiw.

I enjoy reading this beautifully written poem that is so full of color blue. I guess blue is my favorite color because it is the color of the sea and color of the sky. I'm very attracted to them.

Well done and good luck in the contest.

Thank you Lisa. I like blue too and I really do love the clouds in the summer when they are so white and puffy.

Me too. I often play tennis with my husband, which he can do much better than I do. But I don't mind losing because I enjoy standing there watching the blue sky and feeling the breeze.

Ingenious twist using water imagery for sky--splashed across sea of blue. Startling connection between clouds and art--of the abstract genre, white on white.

Then you're like most of us nephophiles - people who love clouds. It's so fun to imagine what those shapes could be and you described the delight of sky-art-admiring in your tanka perfectly! Best wishes in the contest!

Oh yes...it's a game my granddaughters love to play with me. We studied the sky and see what we can see. What a beautiful picture and all the right words to match it. Have a great day!

Smiles, Carol

Lovely late summer poem, and it even seems to have a rhythm. Clouds do seem to be nature's artwork! We have all observed their beauty, countless times, but only stop and notice them when we're in the mood, or when they especially catch our eye.
Your presentation is beautiful, and the little girl in the picture could even be you, as a child!
Best wishes in the contest.

Thank you Mary Kay. I've always been facinated by clouds. Sometime I almost wreck when driving. My sunshades makes them look so close I could touch them. I've taken picture while dirving. Bad idea. The child in the picture looks a lot like me, hair style and everything. Did your read my last chapter?
reply by Mary Kay Bonfante on 01-Sep-2021
You're very welcome, Beth. Yes, it might be a better idea to pull over to the shoulder, before photographing the clouds! Otherwise, Heaven forbid, those photos could become evidence for your insurance company, or the other driver's...
Thank you for reminding me about your last chapter. That was actually what I was looking for, when I came across your lovely poem.
May God bless you, and keep you safe.
    Love, Mary Kay xoxo

I've always been fascinated by all the shapes that clouds make ever since I was a child, and still as an old man, I enjoy sitting on the porch watching them float. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you Ric. I've always loved clouds. As I child I'd lay on my back on the grass and watch the shapes of them change. Of course it's a good way to get chigger bites. LOL
