I enjoyed your fun little tale of this couple's very happy friendship. Although appearing to be mis-matched they enjoy laughing together and are best friends. A bushel and peck I recognized as volume measurements.
You have certainly packed your story with phonemes!

I like the pun in your last lines! The story itself has just the right element of humour in it to hold a child's attention whilst honing his or her reading skills. Nicely done.
