Interesting poem. It sounds like the woman is waiting and wanting to die. It flows perfectly to the end. The end is very real. She is scared as so many of us are.

Dear Midi O, Thank you for your review and the five stars.
Yes, you have it in one. She died accidentally although by her own hand, and now fears for her immortal soul. She has lost everyone she loves and now wants nothing more but to join them in eternity. "Pray for me ,Oh pray for me" cheers Cass

Good entry for the Supernatural Free Verse writing prompt contest. Good free verse form. Your poem flows well. It draws on emotions and it presents strong images.

Dear Gypsy, Thank you for your review and the five stars. This piece took longer to write than I first thought it would. At first I had six rhyming lines at the end, but, to avoid disqualification, I amended them to non-rhyming lines. It's always best to follow the stated requirements, isn't it? cheers Cass

This supernatural poem, Cold Fingers, written in archaic language, brings the final moments to one who has suffered through all others' passings. Well penned.

Dear Bill, Thank you for your review and the five stars.
Yes, it is the final moments for the poor, grieving mother, pleading for prayers to ease her unshriven soul.

This a sad supernatural free verse as this wo.an finally succumbs to her sorrow at the loss of her family and succumbs to a forever sleep. Well told and good luck in the contest. Cheers

This is incredibly sad, not scary at all but heartbreaking. This spirit is crying out for help that will never come, I'm sure there are many spirits who can't pass on because they are in too much pain. Thanks for sharing. :)

Dear Friend, Thank you for your review and the five stars.Yes there IS sadness within this piece due to the mother having taken the sleeping potion meant for the baby to help him sleep. It was too strong and she went from sleep to Death instead of waking up.cheers Cass

"And Life looked back at me." This is confusing since the poem ends in death. I also wondered of what sins the dying man feels guilt. Other than these two questions, I think this is a fine poem about a supernatural encounter.

Dear Harry, Thank you for your review and the five stars. When the writer of the poem saw the form of a ghost she thought it was Death she saw, but it was a ghost that still held Life in its being.(that's how it was able to speak.) The "sins" weighing heavily are those of the unshriven soul. She died in her sleep and wasn't
able to cleanse her heart and soul before she died.

I really loved the approach to the supernatural with nuances of heightened fear and dread and sometimes the unknown. I don't like those ones who prey on blood and gore. This was like a Hitchcock stroke of disguised or masked fear.

Dear Friend, Thank you for your review and the five stars. I have an affinity for the macabre and spooky, so it was an easy topic for me to write about. However, to have my words referred to in the same sentence as "the master" Alfred Hitchcock is a compliment of the highest order for which I thank you most sincerely. cheers Cass

A very well written "haunting" post here, there's a few written on site. I've never had a "ghostly" encounter before, but love the possibility of one. This is beautifully written, and affective, a shiver attached itself to my backbone, written in couplet rhyming, well done, blessings Roy

You write very good descriptions, dear poet. I was stopped in the movement of the curtains flow...I have this habit of watching soft movements as well, like the still waters in a cozy lake. It was great to read this poem.
