Thank you so much for sharing this story with us, Linda. Your sister was very beautiful. You both had some difficult times when barely more than babies. I hope the years after your mother came back for you were happy years. The poem your sister wrote is heart-breaking in its sadness and really tells a story on its own. I'm glad you found it and have shared it here. I'm sorry though, that you had to say goodbye to your sister too soon. My older sister is gone as well, but I have two remaining. Sisters are very special. You have my sincere condolences. MM

Thank you for sharing your story and your sisters poem. It made me think about what it was like for my mom when she was dropped off at an orphanage in Minnesota a year after my mom was dropped off at a friends for the night which turned into a year of living at her friends house. You did a good job giving the poem a background story !

The story is five stars, which is what I am giving you. The prose section needs a little cleaning up. The story is heart wrenching, and I'm sure that there are many who can relate to it.

First of all, please accept my condolences. This must be a difficult time for you and your family.
I'm so glad you chose to share her poetry, she was very talented. And thanks to you for providing background information...it made it more relatable and clear. Feelings are just that: There's no right or wrong, it just happens and this period of time created powerful memories for her, as well as you. Poetry is sometimes the door to the subconscious, as well as the way to lift a burden.
Well done,
Linda

Linda, thank you so much for sharing this very personal story from your's and your sister's childhood.I'm so sorry that you ended upin an ophanage. Especially with nuns who were not very nice.
I spent my first two and a half years of my life in an ophanage, soII can sympathise. I'm so sorry you lost your sister earlier this year. Ulla xx

Thank you for sharing this memory of your sister. How terrible that must have been for both of you to face those things in your early life. Her poem reveals how she felt as a child, but had no one to whom she could go for help.

First my sincere condolences in your sister's passing. That special bond you had with your sister will always be with you in your heart and prayers. I know, but cannot explain why the "good" sisters were so cruel. I wrote earlier how I was treated in school. So I know you are not exaggerating.
Sorry for your pain.
Mary

Thank you for sharing this painful poem/story. Your sister's poem is excellent. Thank you for sharing. I am sure this will help you heal and will help others heal in similar situations.

And she said in a wispy voice "I love you", and than turned her head and shut her eyes (and then)

Hi L. Raven,

This is heartbreaking! I am glad your mother came and got you and your sister Diane from the orphanage. Institutions, even in the name of religion can never offer the love and understanding of family. This is such a shame because there are times when families need help and unfortunate situations arise.

I know the religious organizations can harbor some horrific crimes, not saying the nuns did this here but per the Catholic church some of the worst crimes against children have been committed. I hope you and your sister found some love and peace in your lives.

Your Sister's poem is sad but well written. I know you miss her and your mom.

Have a great week :))

HI Senyai, your so right about the Catholic religion...I have read some horrible things done to children...from years and years ago...and it's still going on...I don't understand it...

we did have good times in our lives...my grandparents were our guarding angels...even though we did live with our parents...

Thank You sweet girl for a wonderful review...and yes...I miss my sister and mom so very much...my mom waited to go be with my dad...they had been together 64 years...

Thank You for a wonderful review my sweet friend...God Bless...love you...Linda xxoo
