Some good advice here. As with any craft, continual practice is needed to improve skills. There's a lot of help out there, online and in formal academic classes. Support groups such as FS can be highly motivational, too.
Just one of those infernal typos in this: At uniersities (universities) they attend writing creative class. Also, the 'they' in this sentence is undefined. 'People' might be better.
Thanks for posting this. I feel sure it will be most helpful to other people on site.

We all have a story in us... those famous words are so true. It's learning how to put our words down on paper. Fanstory is the perfect place to start, with all the help you can get (if you let it) you will soon start writing well written stories. It's being open enough to take advice and not think you don't need it. Even proffessionals need help. Your contest entry is inspiring and I hope people will see it for the good advice it gives. Well done and good luck in the contest. Well done and good luck! :) Sandra xx

I liked this short essay it at points read almost like a poem.
A couple of editing notes in the last paragraph-
"Never give up on it. If it is your first time, then no worries. Keep at it and never stop writing, (I don't think this comma is needed)...Remember(,- add) it is a business.... uniersities (universities).

Yes, you can certainly do all of those things, or at least that's what all the books say. And you definitely have to spend the time it takes to find your own tone. Thanks for sharing.

You have hit the main difficulty with being a writer - discouragement. I like that you keep encouraging the beginning writer to continue working at his craft. I agree that writing courses are not always necessary, but you did not give any other suggestions on how or where to "study hard".

I'm not sure just suggesting "go to university or take classes" is an adequate suggestion for improvement, when you already told the new writer that classes were not necessary. Perhaps drop the "study hard" and suggest "write often" or "work with others"

I did what you suggested. Now is it good enough for a five stars rating? Thanks for your help!

You've given great advice in this piece about what it takes to become a successful writer. I think a little more detail would help...like, telling the writer what to work hard on. Should they work on how to show and not tell, or grammar, or how to build a plot? Or should they study Poetry Dances, right here on FanStory? I agree, a creative writing degree is not necessary, but you need to study your craft, and as you said, "never give up." Best wishes in the contest.

You covered quite a few things about writing which I would agree with wholeheartedly. It's a good entry though you left out one of the most important and that is editing which means writing several drafts of your work.

This is a very well written non fiction essay you have penned for the writing prompt. You used very good advice and very good encouragement to all that write and for them to keep on writing. I enjoyed reading and reviewing this. Best wishes in the contest. Teri
