This one's revealing...and a heartbreaker! Never expected to find Faith terminal...your loving family dynamic (sometimes we pick our family!) between Mary, Faith and Annie leaps off the page and into my heart. Many questions... Will Faith find some answers before her death? Jack keeping this secret!?
I am running through the possible reasons! Oh....most importantly! I have a major crush on Hank! Whew, I admitted it!

having Faith terminal is a bummer. I often wish I'd just made her seriously ill so I could have her get better and live happily ever after...Oh well, such is life.

I can imagine your characters take on a life of their own! Faiths illness, too, is life...

Yes, Faith has cancer because I was so deep in thought of my mom (fighting three different times) What a warrior!

We all bring a bit of our own life experience into our writing. It's what I call "creative therapy!"-

This chapter gives a good insight into Faith and her daughter, Annie. As well it determines Mary's role as the caregiver to Faith and the guardian of Annie. Hank did not get to meet Faith and is not pleased to find out she is terminally ill. He will be back, of course.

Yes, Hank is like a bulldog when it comes to discovery of facts and dealing with the bad guys. Thanks for reading and reviewing as always.

It was wonderful to finally get a glimpse of the personal lives of Mary, Faith and Annie, even though Faith has this terrible disease and sad prognosis. They really form a very coherent family unit, and Faith has arranged well for Annie's care, after she passes away. The visit from Hank was interesting and slightly amusing, and he wasn't overly alarmed by the shotgun greeting.
Just one suggestion:
checking to see where Annie and her pup, Sebastian, were ...

I guess we'll be seeing more of this female trio, in the future.

What an awesome gift of thoughtfulness and stars. Thank you so much, Mary Kay. Between trying to deal with real life and the ones of my characters, I am definitely failing. Thanks for all your support.

You're welcome, as always, dear Carol. I wish I had more sixes to give out! You're a very prolific writer.
I know it's hard for you right now, because you're processing all your emotions from the anniversaries of so many losses. A lot of your writing is related to your personal life, and you've still written quite a bit of your novel and other posts, so it's no wonder you have trouble keeping up with reviews, replies etc.! I just can't imagine how you have time to review the work of other writers and collect the funds to promote your work, unless you're helping it along with real money, which is always an option. If you're like me, you probably can't afford to, but at the moment, I have the time to do reviews, and it gives me a break from some of the more difficult issues I'm dealing with personally. I enjoy reading a lot of the posts on here, especially the novels. God bless you always!

This is a different turn of events, Carol, but it answers my questions about just who Faith is and how she ended up in the cottage. Very well written.

Carol,
Me, too. I'm trying to figure that one out, too. It really doesn't make send to me so I know there's something else going on and with you -- haha -- I'm terrified at what that just might be! hahahaha
Good stuff!

My stories can't terrify you...they aren't horror stories...they just teeter on the edge of things. LOL

Wrong. Your story does terrify me in some ways. You have a gift, my friend.

A touching scene between Mary, Faith, and Annie. You make me wonder what's in those boxes that will bring the story to another level. This chapter is another great write! Blessings. Carol

Of course they do. You wouldn't write it any other way. LOL.

Very well done chapter. Although I haven't read the previous chapters, it was easy for me to jump into this one and figure out what was happening. The environment and surroundings were described well and the flow was good. Best to you :)

There are a lot of plots within the story... Mary(RN) was pregnant and living on the streets. She was told her boyfriend Jon was killed in an accident, and the family moved to Italy. He was very much alive and forced to become a priest. He is a weak person and has succumbed to some evil people. Cassidy is his sister and worked for Mason (the evil guy in town). She was accused of murder falsely, and then they attempted to kill her in prison to shut her up.
Liz's husband died in a suspicious plane crash. Hank (a retired detective turned PI) was her husband's best friend.
Garth is an undercover FBI agent working on a drug case. (This is my third sequel with Hank and Garth)
Cynthia is a neighbor. Michael is her nephew. They have found a map and letter indicating gold on Liz's property.
Mason owns a casino, but is involved in smuggling, drugs, and so much more, including murder.
Allie is Liz's best friend and went undercover in prison to watch over Cassidy. They both got stabbed and hospitalized.
There's a quick shot of the last 19 chapters to catch you up just a little. LOL

Thanks! That is a busy plot line!

Oh, this was a different part of the story. I think there was a lot of repetition about Mary feeling like family to Faith and Annie. Perhaps you wanted to drive that home?
I did like that she was prepared with a gun and was able to determine with Sebastian's help that Hank was a good guy. I hope Hank reviewed the contents of the boxes beforehand. There might be some clues.

Too bad that Faith has cancer and is in so much pain. Annie seems like a precious little girl and she's lucky to have Mary. Another great chapter. I'll be waiting for the next one.

Thanks, Patty....
Yes being with my mother during her cancer and watching her strength dwindle away is heartbreaking. And knowing you have a young child...Wow!
Thanks for the review. Smiles, Carol
