WOW! I never expected any of this. You sure know how to keep a reader on the hook. I will be reading more tomorrow. It is nearly 11:30 p.m. now and I need to shut down my computer. Imagine...three months!! :-)

Intense! Sally is a ballsy woman and anyone taking her on is a chump. Ouch!! Bullet in the neck and three months in the hospital. You have penned a gripping encounter with a killer with arealistic outcome. Brilliant!

As always Sally you never fail to make me laugh out loud within a few lines, and this chapter is no exception. God has indeed blessed him with the eyes of an eagle.

This is a terrific caper, but with Detective Sally Law in charge how can a person go wrong.

Loved this. :))

Gloria

Amazing chapter, bravo!!! The Blind Girl died, went to Heaven, came back to life, but just barely; and was in a semi-vegetative(?) state for three long months, until awoken by ... King's panting? Well, it wasn't your time to die, but it was your time to wake up!

Just one suggestion:

I awoke in a hospital bed with the words 'time' ringing in my ears.

Wow, you (or rather, Detective Law) were in Heaven, but naturally, you could see there, and who was there, but your wonderful Uncle Andre! I'm sure glad you made it, Detective Sally, and can't wait to find out what happened while you were asleep.

You're very welcome, dear Sally. I hope you're away on a pleasant trip.
I rarely look back to check on whether my revisions are made; I figure, it's up to the author, but it's good to know that you're using them!
Love and prayers, Mary Kay xoxo

OMG, what a story in this chapter....three months of lying in a coma...so glad that she woke up to see her dog, King and husband, Jackson near. Sally, I'm glad that this story is only fiction!

Your detailed setting brings the reader in right away. We are standing there waiting to see if Sally is going to proceed. This is a great way to begin this chapter. The near death description is compelling. ""Three months." whaat. Well done.

Wow! Sally, that was a terrific chapter! I'll bet King made the Tiger pay. He'll be wishing he'd never ever seen a painting. But 3 months??? I was so surprised to read that. Detective Sally, that blind sleuth, must have been shot pretty good. It must have put her in a coma.
My favorite part,
"The next scene was paradise, one of exquisite beauty and vibrant colors. Flowers bloomed everywhere along with rare species of plants. Tamed wild animals walked about and grazed. My Uncle Andre greeted me and showered me with kisses. I realized then, that while on Earth, I'd never been able to see him. "How handsome you are, my pet. I've missed you so!"
His eyes were happy, yet drenched in tears. "You must go back, ma fille aimante. It is not your time.... Not your time...."
I awoke in a hospital bed with the words 'time' ringing in my ears. The gentle sound of Jackson's breathing let me know he was sleeping nearby. I tried to speak, but nothing but a croak came.
"Ja--ck!"
************************************************************
I had a dream years ago, but it seemed so real. I was in Heaven, and being hugged and kissed by all my family who'd gone ahead. And it felt so great. I didn't have a care in the world. I focused on them, so I don't recall flowers and trees or color. But I knew them, and they knew me. It was quite an experience, so special to see my grandparents... Frank & Jenny Bartlett.
I used to wonder where Heaven was... way out there in space? past our solar system? But twenty years ago (or so), I won a telescope and soon joined the Saint John Astronomy Club. I learned that there are many solar systems just in our own Milky Way galaxy. And outside that, there are a million more galaxies. Astronomers don't know where or even if the universe ends. And it made me question why God created so much. Was He just having fun with it all, and got carried away? We'll never see it all. Not even a small fraction of it. So where is Heaven? I believe it's much closer than we'd dream... in another dimension we can't even begin to understand. It's all there waiting for us. And Sally was so close, hanging between life and death. It wasn't her time. There must be more for her to do here on earth. But she'll have to recover.
Then, there's the other questions... Tony Alfanzi. Is he locked up? Awaiting trial? How many people did he kill? And what about Olivia Henry (Camille), Miles' sister? Has that mystery been resolved?
And what about Analiese Irving? Tony is bound to bring her into all the dirt, too. She won't escape prosecution. It will be a ripple effect.
Had I been Tony, I would have slipped away while I could. It wouldn't be easy, but I would have beat the feet out of River Ridge, out of Louisiana altogether. Maybe even out of the country in time. Criminals don't think things through, do they?

"Jackson returned as I was getting down from the cab and took my hand."
(I suggest,
Jackson returned and took my hand as I was getting down from the cab.)

I look forward to the "rest of the story" now, Sally. I know you'll tie in all the loose ends. I think our blind detective deserves a vacation after this near-death experience.
Nicely penned!
Hugs,
Kimbob

Thank you for the beautiful review and generous star shine. I appreciate the improvement and I?ve made the changes. It flows so nicely. Thank you, my friend.

I learned so much about you in this review. I, too, love the stars and study the heavens. The heavens told the story of God?s greatness long before we had the written word.

The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork. Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge. There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard.

That may explain the vastness of the universe and new heaven and new earth to come in the future. I?m looking forward to it.

Blessings to you always, dear Kim,
