What a nice poem. It follows the 5-7-5 syllable format. It is definitely about emotions. However, it also has a rhyme! LOL! I like rhymed poetry, so I liked it. But the prompt does say "unrhymed Japanese verse." Still, it's a touching poem! (no puns intended)

This is a beautiful senryu and I love the additional info you added in the notes about your mother. I know these types of poems are supposed to be short but you made a powerful statement in the space you were given.
