My name is Liz. I just read an intense interview and tribute to you by Debi Pick Marquette. I said, 'I want to meet him.'
****now your tribute of Bob. You are clearly empath: "Things that angered or hurt him, angered and hurt me as well." But what a start to read his story: "At the end of the story the boy says with pride, just wait until they see me in my brand-new Nazi uniform. I was blown away." This will give the reader cause to pause: "The takeaway for me was, many people we consider to be monsters, start life out as normal people who are shaped and formed by life's experiences."
Well done.

Your wonderful assessment of my response to Bob, blows me away. I learned more from Bob than I can ever easily relate. He was both a great teach and great friend. I miss him so much. His influence on me was everything to me.

Thank you for sharing this tribute to a fellow writer. I am fairly new on here so don't remember reading any of his posts, but by all the kind words I have seen on here, he was really well liked and appreciated.

Bob was a friend and mentor to many of us on fan story, and like you, I think always of Bob's, Falling up the stairs, write. He overcame so much in life and we were lucky to be able to get to know him through his words.

Thank you. My heart remains heavy with sorrow. I am sure that Bob would be pleased with the outpouring of sadness over his death. He would though I am sure, would encourage us to get on with our lives and not spend too much time in mourning.

Nomi,
What a nice way to remember. a person. Your writing gives an excellent laud to this writer.
About one of his stories you liked: he turned the little boy from meek to vengeful (Nazi) in one instant. A good writer sees both sides of the story.
Excellent memorial, Nomi.

Bob is such a popular writer and so many are affected by his death. He lives on in his writings which we are fortunate to have. I am sure he is looking down and smiling.

I loved Bob dearly, but I may never forgive him for going off and leaving his friend bereft of our solid inspiration. Bob, I am only kidding. Yes, he will be sadly missed for some time to come.

Hello Nomi,

This is such a kind story about your friend Bob. I read the reviews and he had so many friends on FanStory. I wish I knew him more, maybe I did. Your words touched my heart, Nomi. Also, it sound like he was an exceptional writer. We have become like a family on this platform. Well written. Thanks for sharing.

I agree with all of your comments about Bob one hundred percent! I remember Mastery from my previous years with FanStory, and was after returning recently, saddened to find him ill, and then shortly after, his passing. I will miss him!

It is indeed a sad shock he is gone, but it is phenomenal how much he will be remembered, and I'll bet he is super pleased you remember his stories so well as well. This is a well-voiced and well-paced contribution to the tribute book. just one spag suggestions:

At the end of the story(,) the boy says with pride

His is missed. RIP.

Warmly, rd

I both agree and grieve with you. Over time Bob became one of my favorite people here on FanStory. He had a particular knack of writing the kinds of story that you just wanted to read. His illness took me by complete surprise, and his death really knocked me for a loop. I may never fully recover from this traumatic event.

Sorry to hear you lost a friend, Nomi.
We always carry those we lose in our hearts. It is not much solace, but it is some.

Indeed, even Adolph did not start out as an evil boy, as far as I know. I suppose it is the classic argument of nature versus nurture. Rosseau was a big fan of nurture - saying that all children start out as a tabula rasa "blank slate" - I think it is a mixture of both. The environment can profoundly impact people. It like that Pretender's song about a "thin line between love and hate" when the "nicest woman in the world can become the meanest woman in the world if you make her that way."
Have a pleasant evening.
Best,
Dave

Thank you for your comments. I especially appreciate your mention of that particular song. It became popular during the time my wife and I first started dating. I never forgot the powerful message that song delivered.
