when i get behind, like this morning, i always start with the most recent message. this generally works ok, but is a big mistake with you as before i can truly appreciate this post i need to find the one about scott's death - hopefully i will get there before emergencies intervene, but there is no guarantee.

Thanks! I'm pleased to have been able to milk the event and eke out a follow-up! Confession--she didn't make that parting remark--Scott was miffed she was so focused on her embarrassment that she neglected to mention she was glad he was alive.

You remind me of Mark Twain's famous cable from London to the press in the United States after his obituary had been mistakenly published.

And the errant officer had her chance to thank Scott for rescuing her (when her boat went under, years ago) pre-mortem, rather than post-mortem -- it's always better that way, don't you think so?
Visiting your page made me realize just how prolific a writer you really are. And I was only there to see if you got your ATB on the bus hijacking story, yet... but I think FS awards the ATBs at a certain time of night or morning, IF you hit magic #26 by the right hour, prior to it. It might take another cycle.
Such a funny story, Liz! It actually reads like a news article, which works well. I especially love your closing paragraph.

Thank you for the true (post-almost-mortem) confessions. It's too bad poor Scott was offended by her embarrassment taking precedence over her joie de (his) vivre. If you have a chance, you can tell him that I, Mary Kay Bonfante (no one he is likely to ever meet) am happy he is alive. (Unless it will stir up too much, um, negative sentiment, and require too much in the way of awkward explanations.)

Lol! She's so eloquent: "I'm glad you didn't croak" ?? Well, maybe it wasn't Scott who rescued her. She seems to have something faulty in the memory banks or has tendency to make hasty conclusions - something we don't want in our police!

A nice follow-up story explaining the premature memorialization!!!!!!!!!! It didn't have your usual sly introductory humor which I always like, but it was still humorous about the further misunderstandings around the boat incidence.

Per the non-fiction biographical classification, I intended this as a factual follow-up--rather than a humor piece. That said, I took your suggestion to heart and reviewed the story--so far, haven't seen fit to enhance it--I will look again tomorrow, as one other reviewer remarked similarly. Funny, funny story. You had me at the title which prompted great curiosity about where this story could possibly be going. I love your writing but I feel that you could have milked this one a little more. The facts were there but you're such a clever writer, you could have developed the facts a little more and still maintained that humorous tone your writing so often reflects.
