You call this a worthless ramble. I was going to ask you if you had as much fun writing this as I had reading it? It was a remarkable account of how we come up with a good story and can do things like I just did today. I will tell you later.

This was awesome Ric. I have been waiting for your chapters to get done but I don't know what you have left so I wanted to do a few here and there for you.
You have been so great at reading my posts and reviewing my stuff.

So I loved this and I love your writing too, Ric. Thanks for sharing this awesome story. Love, Debi

Thank you so much, Debi, for your generous review and kind words. I'm anxious to know your story about what you did today. Sometimes, the most simple every day things are the best. I'm just an old farm boy full of foolishness. I'm glad you liked my scratching. I enjoy reading your posts and seeing your smiling face pop up. I appreciate you going back and reading this old story that doesn't offer any Fan Dollars. But most of all, I appreciate YOU!

I enjoyed your rambling. You ramble well. Time gets hold of us all and shakes the snot out of us. Buying friends and plastic surgery is a sad way to spend your time. The two of us have a southern center, Sometimes sweet and gooey, sometimes so hard it will split a molar. Kudos to you for great writing.

Thanks bunches, Karen, for another generous and kind review. Most everything I write is starts as just rambling. I don't outline or have a plot when I start. I just create a beginning, work to a middle, then decide where I want it to end. And theme, that just builds itself too. As I've said many times, story to me is strictly about fascinating characters and what they do. And you have a special knack for creating them! I appreciate YOU!
reply by Karen Cherry Threadgill on 25-Sep-2023
I have never had an outline. I just sit and write until it is done. Then a couple days later I go back and edit and edit a couple more times until it makes me happy. I rarely send out something right out of the bat. Here's a secret. I just slapped out "Herman" in a couple of hours and sent it right on it was on a deadline. I won first place. And ,"Buster Buries His Past is a couple of years old, and I worked hard on it editing and re-editing over the years and it is not being read. I can't figure it out.
You've been here a while, can you tell me how things
    work ? Karen
reply by the author on 25-Sep-2023
Karen, dear, there is no logic to how things work here. I don't enter contest anymore, but I'm often included in the story of the month voting. Sometimes, I can get enough votes to be competitive, and other times, I don't get any votes. Things with a religious flair seem to have an advantage. And those posts I hate about other people on the site, or articles that play up to readers, have their loyalists. Sadly, not enough people read all the entrants, they just vote for their friends or the subject matter. I've been here a while, but things have changed drastically. I've lost most of my regular readers. They've either died or left the site for some reason or the other. But thankfully, there are still bright spots and kind people that keep me coming back. I enjoy everything you write, so just keep writing and don't worry about anything else. Things have away of taking care of themselves. :-)

Keep up the flattery and kind words I can eat that stuff up for breakfast. You are the brightest spot in my day. And, I love the flirting. The fact that it is unlikely we will ever meet makes it safe and fun. I can get sometimes bawdy around you. You bring out my inner flirt. You take my age down several decades when we talk.
Thank you so much for that. You make me feel pretty and a size six again. Something horrible happened to me, I started looking my age! How rude!hahaha Karen
reply by the author on 25-Sep-2023
Well, dear, aging happens to us all if we live long enough. I used to pass for 20 and 30 years younger than my age, but the last 6 or 8 years have been disheartening. LOL. It's kind of like I fell off a cliff and hit on every rock. I like nice people. Looks aren't nearly as important to me as they once were. :-)

You mean you don't look exactly like your picture? Color me shocked. But, you are a guy right? hahaha Karen
reply by the author on 25-Sep-2023
I don't look much different than my picture. At least except for the gray that I keep colored anyway. LOL.
reply by Karen Cherry Threadgill on 26-Sep-2023
A guy who admits he colors his hair. Amazing..You do intrigue me.

Hey, it is what it is. I hate getting old as much as the next person, and I'm willing to admit. But in the long run, getting old beats the alternative. :-)

I do a La-Z-Boy boogie myself, except that I usually have knitting or one of two cats in my lap. The truth is, I'd rather boogie in that chair these days than on a dance floor.

Even your ramblings are well written and engaging.

You just like me. LOL. Thank you for going back to read more of my foolishness, which is most of what I write. But it's always nice when it doesn't only entertain me. It's always means more when readers go back to read old stuff that offers nothing in return. I appreciate YOU!

You've already been honored time over for this piece but I did very much enjoy the read. I am so happy that we do have a place to go, and a very pleasant place it is, with our writing. As our bones creak and backs bend it's nice to have a place of retreat where we forget those aches and pains and solve a few mysteries or other things we may choose to write.

Thank you so much, RockinM, for taking time to read a non-paying piece of my foolishness, like most everything I write. I would love to write thrillers and mysteries myself, but I'll just read those of you who do it so well. So, I don't have to do all the plotting and research. LOL. To think we would be content to read and write rather than experience life first hand, who would have ever believed it? Not me. But we can't get into too much trouble in a world of only make believe. Thanks for your kind words and generous review. I appreciate You and your stories!

Yes Sir! I have written a few poems about the sea as well. My you have a very extensive vocabulary Ric. Quite an imagination as well. I can't blame you for being upset when your dream was interrupted. LOL Well done. I live in my recliner as well. Good job. Nancy:)

Thank you so much, Nancy, for your kind words and generous review. I write more silly foolishness than seriousness, but I don't limit myself to a particular genre or topic. I'm just an out-of-control kid who resembles a senior citizen. Enjoy your recliner, and I'll enjoy my comfy-butt seat while I read your posts. I appreciate YOU!

How wonderful to be able to dream up this dream...it entertained me and brought a smile to my face, because, like all good dreams we always wake up or are awakened just before the exciting part of it...thank you for allowing me to read it.

Thank you so much, Beejay, for your kind words and generous review. The biggest pleasure in having an out-of-control imagination is having someone who likes my adventures enough to spend their time reading them. Yes, it always seems we wakeup or are awakened at the most inopportune times. But, thankfully, a new dream is waiting for the next time we close our eyes or another idea strikes fancy. Thank you for your kindness and encouragement. Much appreciated!

Oh, well, as rambles go this one is well crafted, very relatable to the FanStory demographic and entertaining to all. And now, the site will stop telling you how many more stories you need to get on "The List"

Good writing.

Thanks for taking time out to read another one of my foolish rambles. This story pretty much tells it like it is. I'm not a great writer, and truly never really hoped to be. In my fifties before I learned the difference between a noun and a verb, now, I just kill a little time and amuse myself. But, I must admit, I do greatly appreciate when outstanding writers like yourself offer a review and say "good writing." Thanks again!

I really enjoyed this biographical rant and the self-exploration journey. Very well presented. I liked the bits of humor and the descriptive imagery used, the apt of use of a dialogue and your honesty.

Thank you for sharing this with us.

Thank you so much, Eternal Muse, for taking time to read and review my silly little story. It pretty much describes what I do. Sit and read in my La-Z-Boy until a wet mop comes flying across the room and smacks me in the face. Then, I write. LOL. I appreciate your kindness and encouragement!

This is a neat little Lazy Boy boogie your took us on and since you are at all time best number 4 for July I'd say you have nothing to apologize for. Nicely written and cool dreaming.

Hello, Beth Shelby, and thank you so much for your kind and generous review. I'm just a silly boy whose mind jumps around everywhere. I never even know what I might say or do. Then, when I look in the mirror, I don't even recognize that old dude staring at me. LOL. I always appreciate your kindness and encouragement!

Oh, Ric, that was some dream! Of course you would have rescued the poor damsel in distress, and been rewarded with her hand in marriage ... yes, you have to marry these damsels to get your hands on the jewels! Lol. Hope she was a pretty one! I did enjoy this, and it wasn't a waste of time reading it! Well done, my friend. :)) Sandra xxx
