This is a very well-written poem about your Father's shoes. It is whimsical to the point of nostalgia. There is quite a bit of that floating around, but it also sings with your rhyming words.

Aww, this is so sweet and I can see those are big shoes to fill, your father's shoes!
With each boy staring down into the closet at those big brown worn out shoes and wondering what the man was like who filled them every day, walking about living his life. I think your mother's tradition was ingenious, frankly!

This is an excellent entry for the Shoes contest. Your poem is quirky, but totally believable, and I find it a wonderful tradition that the whole family will include the patriarch in special occasions by the wearing of his shoes.

You brought back memories that I'd forgotten from my childhood, lacerated feet from protruding nails, hammered flat by something similar to a blacksmith's anvil. Written in very professional style in tetrameter and aabb rhyming, a most fluid poem, not common unfortunately, good luck, blessings Roy

What a touching poem about your father's shoes. It was very sentimental to read. I've had several special moments remembering my dad's treasures, too; I'll always remember is his love for horses, tractors.

A tale of tradition. Many things go generation to generation, but this is quite touching. And the question becomes will they ever fill grandfather's shoes.
