So - you're the one!! Very humorous write and I like the pace and flow. Never had a tax problem myself but can imagine the horrors for those who have. Enjoy your retirement - I am sure there are many more who will.

I must give you credit for a job well done. I read an article once named Hated without cause. I am sure this was not you. LOL. Some of my friends worked for the IRS; they helped me file my taxes. Saved me lots of money.

It is good you did your job well. But you probably had a lot of hidden enemies in the people you extracted payments from. I hope that was off set by big refunds you sent. I am glad you finally got the noticed at retirement.

I think your poem gives an accurate perspective about the way in which people who work for big, impersonal organisations sometimes feel, and you've done it with engaging, self-deprecating humour.

I don't think I've ever met, or indeed, known anyone who worked for the tax department('s) state or federal, but then I never knew anyone who did know anyone. Beautifully written my friend, written almost like a sonnet, but with aabb rhyming and an extra stanza, in pentameter, well done, good luck, blessings Roy

Income tax= bad words LOL Your poem is funny. It rhymes well and is very easy to read. I'm sure you did do your job well. Let's face it the IRS is an easy job to write jokes about even telling for real. Good job!
