I enjoyed reading your poem. You have a smooth flow of rhyming words and you vividly describe the work you did for the state government. I also like the use of the dash in your poem, it gives a strong steady beat to your words.

Some jobs not only rob us of our joy, they can and do rob us of our integrity, our humanity and our empathy as well. Leaving such a jobs can give us a new lease on life.

Ha! Funny rendition of your job career. I loved it. Really got a nice snapshot of your thoughts. That's what counts. Rhyming was pleasant and the flow was present.

You did a great job with your poem, Portia. I enjoyed reading and reviewing it. Your lines read smoothly, the rhymes work well, and the story told is interesting. Thanks for the notes, too. I figured the being late wasn't real. I like the image and the color scheme.

    My neighbors knew, and I had to give one of my doctors some helpful information about late filing. He was pleased to know the deadline of April 15th only applies to those who may owe taxes.

Well! I would never have suspected that you were once a Revenue Section Superivisor! Very interesting, but I also suspect challlenging and frustrating!

loved it. captured the absurdity of working for the tax man. I worked for the State Department. I spent six years doing visa fraud work. Interesting but ultimately soul sapping. I also issued thousands of non-immigrant visas, thousands of immigrant visas, and helped hundreds of Americans who got into trouble, including handling 35 death calls. But I am glad I retired when I did. Don't think I would have last long in the Trump State department! Too much of the Berkeley rebel left in me I supposed. I might try this contest - would be fun.

You sure got vote on this poem. I can imagine that working for the Revenue Department is not easy. It seems to me that much is done on the computer these days.
