An excellent stream of consciousness free verse. It has a hopeful tone, while at the same time giving an understanding of what is going on in this world today. Very interesting. :)

This is a long, bet well done free verse poem about how faith can give you strength to get through the darkest times. It also reminds us that we need to do better as a sociologist help each other have hope and faith.
Good luck in the contest
Keep writing and stay healthy

Joan, thank you for this outstanding six star review!🙏🙏

I think you did a great job using the free verse format to create this wonderful streaming consciousness effect. I thought the images of these stars going dark and getting swallowed by the black hole were great. In that black hole you find the light, in Christ. I think it ends up being a powerful image of transformation, or transfiguration, and going through a metaphorosis through faith to be changed from suffering and despair to joy and hope. estory

Amazing!! The opening lines and the closing lines say it all. Even in the darkest of night, there is Light and the intense White Light beckoning all, "Come...I am the I AM." Jesus is the I AM for me, you and everybody. Thanks for sharing this wonderful read. Thanks, Kit.

I love this line so much...and you have done it high justice. He is our Lord, our Justice Meter, and our Savior. He is everything and everyone and sees all. This is a lovely poem well-presented!

Sherry, I do thank you profusely! 🙏

He is most certainly the Great I Am. From out of the darkness comes light. Jesus said I am that light. So many are still stumbling in the dark when light is but a prayer away.
Excellent post. My best to you.

The way in which you contrast light and darkness in this does much to intensify the sense of brightness that God's light spreads, illuminating our lives in times of depression and hopelessness - so well expressed in the alcoholic's "pint of hope".

This is a powerful free verse entry for the contest. I like the contrast you created between the darkness of the world's broken souls and the intense light of Jesus, the I AM. Well done. Sorry I don't have a six for you. Best wishes in the contest. Carol

Well done.
This is a poem that would be extra special read aloud. The way it is formulated, it should be heard.
Deep in the recess of darkness, the light will prevail...and how you brought it forth in the end...the very harbinger of such.
Nicely poetic...nicely deep.
Good work.
My best wishes.

RG, I am quite grateful for the six stars and I agree ...read aloud with the ebb and flow of the intended emotion would be most satisfying. Be well, and thank you! 🙏
Comment from Jill McCauslin
I found this to be a moving poem. I found the first few stanzas to be the most powerful, though I recognize the power of the message is in the last part of the poem. This stanza really stood out for me.
I peer into the volumes of darkness
and see scenes littered with broken souls!
Broken, much like the shattered glass from the wino's
discarded bottle of Muscatel ... his pint of hope gone dry!
Great job! Good luck with the contest.
