This is such a wake up call, we really don't know how long we've got on this earth. If we've resolved to be a good person, and haven't started the process, we may never be able to do that, beautifully written Beth, my friend, good luck, great "minute" poem, blessings Roy

Well done, Beth...

No truer words have been spoken... We do not know how long our stay will be nor when it will suddenly end...We need to live each day to the best of our ability and hope the mark we leave behind is enough to sustain those we love.

Hugs, Carol

I like your minute poem and appropriately it talks about the brevity of life a great time-related poem. I like your meter, too. The only thing is that you have four stanzas and the contest asks for three. (Each stanza is 20 syllables 20x3=60 syllables as in 60 seconds). I'm sure you can modify to make it say all you want in three. Best wishes in the contest!

Lets take a stand (Let's)

Thank you Helen, I'm glad you noticed that. I wasn't thinking No one else seemed to notice. I took out the third stanza. I didn't really need it.

Life is way too short to waste any of it and your contests entry tells us exactly written in a beautiful poem. Thank you for sharing this entry with us and I want to wish you the very best of luck.

A well composed and thought provoking perspective on the brevity of life and how quickly time passes.

The comparison to a shooting star is a very appropriate one

Well done.

I love it. It is so succinct and to the point. We are really in a daze most of the time, thinking we will last forever. But, indeed, our time will come and we haven't got a clue, when. So, be there.

Ah, a minute poem about time. How fitting. Yes, time flies--like a vulture. Just waiting to pick from our bones.
I think your take is considerably lighter than mine. Perhaps a bit satirical, too. It's hard not to speak of time without speaking in cliches. I assume that is your intention. Very sly.

Best of luck, Beth.

Peace, Lee

Thanks Lee, I think you might be using a little satire to remind me that my poem is full of cliches and yes, I know that. I happen to like cliches. Be quiet, and maybe everyone won't pick up on that as quickly as you. I tried the line "Time flies like a vulture but it was two syllables short and I didn't like the rhyme selection.

Your secret is safe with me. I don't think 'time flies like a vulture' would catch on, anyway.

Your words are so true, life is short and uncertain and we have no guarantee of tomorrow. So we live each day with eternity in mind. Great picture you have chosen to illustrate, and good entry for the contest.
