Yikes! It's good that Sally and King have a keen sense of who might be observing them. I hope they can catch up with Tony. But will the Aikido stick be useful? I wondered how far away Tony was at the time they talked with the truck driver. I also wasn't sure what happened from the point Sally told to go hold the lieutenant's arm and how they ended up from checking out a restaurant's menu to looking at the rig.

I like all the different sections. Sally is very intuitive, which is fortunate, and she is in tune with her dog's sense of danger. The bad guy seems to have escaped this time, again, so there will doubtless be a lot more twists and turns until all is revealed. Realistic characters. Well done.

Sally:

I'm imagining Dwayne, the oil rig driver, tossed his cookies (and the rest of his huge meal) when he realized just how close to death he had been. I suppose no one ever told him the dangers of picking up hitchhikers, no matter how many hundred dollar bills they put across one's palms.

Our crooked friend has recognised the blind girl Sally Law, and seems grateful for his lucky windfall, and can stay right there, instead of travelling untold miles to perform his ill conceived dalliance with crookedness, is Sally aware, they ask! Well done Sally, good episode, blessings Roy

This was a great, dramatic read. Looking forward to much more! Just one area I wondred about.... the p in front of leather and the asterix? accented in pleather* furnishings.

Thank you for the lovely review and generous stars, dear Geoff. It is so appreciated. Pleather is fake leather, much like vinyl with a leather look to it. It was very popular in the 60s. Sending you my best, with love and blessings to you both,
    Sal XOs...

Hello Sal.

The two points of interest for me in this chapter are the fact that Tony is looking for a burner phone. Every good criminal keeps at least one or two burner phones around. The other is it's touching that big D and Tony are so fond of their mothers.

Big D also has a cast iron stomach since he's having unlimited clam chowder and pecan sweet rolls third time around. If I ate that I'd need an ambulance.

Looks like Sally is closing in on the Tiger. I'm really happy that there is not a picture of big D's undigested buffet on the ground.

Suspense mounts significantly in this chapter.

In Section One, you explain Uncle Andre's enjoyment of painting flowers, and the way you have safely preserved his work (which justifies the chosen illustration). We also see the preparations for defense against the murderous stalker (Tony Alfanzi, whose identity is known only to the reader).

In Section Two, we see how Tony leaves truck driver "Big D" (awaiting fresh-from-the-oven pecan sweet rolls to top off his dinner) by claiming to be going to the nearby cellphone store to buy one for his mother on kidney dialysis. His plans change when he sees his quarry (you). He then goes to book a room at the same Motor Court Motel where you are staying. We then find out that he needed a phone to call Analiese Irving, who apparently knows him by first name -- a Very interesting twist in the plot.

In Section Three, Big D has finished eating, has not seen his passenger for longer than expected, and notices police at his improperly parked oil tanker; so he walks there in hope of handling any fine due with the roll of hundred-dollar bills the hitchhiker had given him for the ride.

In Section Four, when you explain to him why the police were waiting for him, he admits to picking up a hitchhiker near the sunken car holding two murdered men, then suddenly loses his meal, which seems out of character. Had he been poisoned?

Clearly, we have much to ponder while awaiting the next chapter. Superb.

Thank you for the wonderful review and generous stars! I?m so glad to catch you on your busy weekend. Wow, you have a real good grasp on the plot and upcoming events. Hang on, it really takes a turn? or two. No food poisoning, just overeating then realizing he picked up a murderer. I?d probably lose my lunch too. Thank you, again!

Your criminals have a difficult time trying to get around Lieutenant Sally Law! The natural sixth sense of all three people involved in this one, and their amazing dogs, presents a very interesting and unique story. I'm really enjoying reading it, Sally. Well done.

I really enjoyed reading this. The trucker seems like a decent sort and feels he allowed himself to be taken in by the man he picked. Sally has amazing instincts and realizes that trouble is nearby. The dog realizes it as well. I'm be anxious to read you nest entry.
