Lots of introductions of dharacters and further expansion on the other characters' moods and attitudes. Pleas don't tell me Patterson was writing a script about Fairfield. That would get a fellow killed just about anywhere.

Thanks so much for your review and comments. I'm not revealing just yet what the book was about. There'll be several suspects whose alibis won't hold up very well. judi

Hello Judi.
The sheriff seems to have hit upon a knowledgeable acquaintance of the deceased. Since there are several more interviews to be conducted, I'm going to guess that many of them will have a suspicious or semi suspicious comment or incident to relate. That's what makes it a mystery.

I read this yesterday, but I was out of sixes.
This is very much like a Clue type play. The normal things a cop would do is out the window and we dive right into forming an elaborate who done it game.
notes:
Granger: Now, that brings up an interesting question. The front entrance door was {unlocked}. Now, how did Patterson get in?
- do you mean locked?

Gayle: Guys, put a xock in it. [put a ???? in it?]
Don: I will. (He exits Left and returns with CORINNE.) [I don't know whether this might need to be elaborated on, or not: I took it to mean he brought Corrine to the Sheriff, and I was thinking at first that her expression of fear that they might think she was the murderer was made in front of the Sheriff. Maybe I'm being too persnickety, LOL]

Thanks so much for your review and comments. The sheriff is interviewing everyone who was in the theatre the night Corrine found Patterson's body. I think they all feel like they're under suspicion, as they're being questioned. judi

It's my bad, Judi. I didn't explain myself well. I was saying that by your saying "Don exits left and returns with Corinne" it sounded like he returned to the Sheriff with Corinne. And if that were the case, the things she said to Don (if it were said in front of the Sheriff instead) would have sounded quite strange. But I"m making it even muddier by explaining it. So sorry....
-
No problem. She probably does have reason to experience fear, because Patterson was staying at her B&B and then she discovered his body. Lots of opportunity for her to have killed him. (Of course she didn't.) judi

It's interesting that the sheriff has suspicions about newcomers. I wonder if he will be just as suspicious of the old timers of the town.
Comments:
Guys, put a xock in it. (sock)
For the speech label, you start out with the last name for Likens and switch to Lou later.

Thanks so much for your review and comments. I corrected to sock. That's probably true of small towns. They tend to be suspicious of strangers. I think the Sheriff will look closely at all of those who were present when the body was discovered. We'll also find that there's a lot Don isn't telling. judi

Suspense builds amidst the delightfully snappy dialog and this vividly rendered cast of characters. I'm hooked.
Gayle: Guys, put a xock=>SOCK in it.

I'm enjoying this script. You have an interesting group of character but I can't imagine any of them having a motive to kill this man. Arlo is the only one who seems like a less than nice person, I'll be looking forward to seeing the rest of the characters interviewed.

This is a classic Judy, the characters are playing out their as classical on stage players, type cast for their parts, but like the real life plays onstage, the dialogue is excellent well done my friend, blessings Roy

I can't wait so see what Corrine has to say. I seriously doubt she had anything to do with is murder. I have her pictures as an Aunt Bea type. LOL I am enjoying this skit.
Guys, put a xock in it. (sock???)

Thanks so much for your review and comments. They may target her because he was staying at her B&B, and she saw his body in the lobby. Maybe she was the one who bashed his head in? judi
