This is an engagingly-told story showcasing the differing personalities and habits of your fur family. Mitsy being such a biter was not nice of her. As an Aussie myself, I was pleased to read that the Australian dog was such a good family member!

I enjoyed your touches of humour, such as: I'll call him Claws because that is the thing which stands out the sharpest in my mind, and also listening to your dad's intercom expletives.

Thank you Lisa May. I really appreciate the review and comments. Yes I'm a definitely a fan of Blue Healers. Roxie died last year and I really miss her. I would get another one if I knew I could find one as loyal as her and one that would never leave my yard. They are just such energetic dogs, that I'm afreid I don't move fast enough to be enough stimulation. Mitsy loved playing frisbee and would be happier with kid or other animals around.

Those dogs definitely are energetic - blue heelers are wonderful working dogs. RIP Roxie.

You have had quite a catalog of adventures, when it comes to pets. In many cases, it sounds more like a Rogue's Gallery, though, especially if you take the three Parts of your story, combined!
So it IS Mitsy, not Misty. But Roxie definitely seems like the best of all your pets, and the least troublesome.

Errors and suggestions:

Time passes swiftly, and sad to say, Kokomo, Cody, and Claws all crossed the Rainbow Bridge. [I seem to have already forgotten who Cody was; do you think you might want to refresh our memories? Or should we leave it to chance?]

Most memorable lines:

"I still have boxes full of small appliances with loose wires hanging from their cords." (However the "severe nose injury" to your cousin was a serious matter!)

"Thankfully, after a few weeks my injuries healed."

"Get down you &#%!@?!. I'm going to hang you by your tail and skin you alive."

The Shelbys should win an award for being the most tolerant of pet problems!

Thank you again for your excellent help with my story. If i deside to publish this I would probably make just one longer story instead of three separate parts, and Cody would be fresher on the minds of the readers. Cody was the dog how encountered the Emu and liked to go into the subdivision behind us. About my cousin, Kathy, and the bite to the nose, it was just a nick, but poor Kathy went home with a worse injury that had nothing to do with the animals. We had a very steep and side slanted drive way. When she got in her car to leave her door came crashing down on her leg. It was badly bruised and almost broken. She had to go to the emergency with that.

Wow! You are really the most tolerant pet owner. I never heard of driving with a cat outside of a carrier. I guess you didn't have one? I laughed at your dad's conversation with Claws. And I do remember your recounting that dangerous flea dip attempt. Ah, cats! Thanks for sharing. I'm glad you had some good pets but they probably wouldn't have lasted in other homes.

I had the cat in a cardboard box but he destoyed it rather quickly. I had two other rather obnoxious pets but I thought I'd better quit.Thank you so much for the review and comments.

I certainly can identify with different doggy personalities. We have one that tried to chew a hole in our house to get out because he was scared to be abandoned. He's a most loving and gentle dog. But my daughter has a high-strung one that leaps and jumps and is destroying her house. I always love a good dog story. They become a real part of the family.

Thank you for reading and commenting on this. Pets all have things that make you want to throw up your hands and get rid of them, but we become attached and they are like family.

Thank you so much for the great review. Roy suggested if I like Australian sheep herders, I shouldn't miss seeing the movie Red Dog. I wonder if you've seen it.

Blue healers are bred for working and herding, if you'd have had chooks, Roxie probably would have kept them confined to their little bit of acreage. They are high energy. If you get a chance their's a time called "Red Dog" and great story about a Kelpie, another Australian working dog. Beautifully written, great story Beth. Blessings Roy

Mitsy sounds like a fun little dog, Beth. Those small dog can be intimidating--small, but loud and kinda mean. I enjoyed reading your well thought out story. I'm glad your dad got some comfort while he was living with your family--even if the kitty was a bit obnoxious at times. You have a wonderful collection of stories in these three parts so far.
Thanks for sharing.
Respectfully, Jan

Your story is so entertaining. It's well written, flows from beginning to end, and kept my interest from start to finish. What a great mix of pets! Awesome job!

I enjoyed reading part 3. I grew up with a seven pound Chihuahua, Mitzi, and a 200 pound Great Dane, Duke, both wonderful dogs, but I will let you know Mitzi had complete control over Duke. Go figure. Thank you for sharing.

Thanks for the review and comments and for sharing about your dogs. I think I just found out why the spell checker doesn't like the way I spell Mitsy. I probably should be spelling it Mitzi like you spell it.
reply by barbara.wilkey on 09-Jul-2021
It was your dog, you can spell it anyway you want. LOL

Another hilarious romp--I am shocked you chose the nose-biter as a favorite along with the delightful Roxie! Funny bits about the electrical wires and the intercom !n+@rch@ng*!

Thank you for the review and comments. As for the nose biter, she never bit my nose and she has such an adorable face and she did like to cuddle. Roxie was less trouble and he was delightful.
