Your writing is very good Liz and this story of the pranks and shenanigans that these fellows dreamed up really captures the imagination of the reader. I hope this is all fictional!! Well done!!

These three incidents were conflated--Mrs. Tats was my sub--Chuck did the Venitian blind stunt, and my ex husband did the upside down stunt They probably upended the clock too!

It sounds like the ways boys act didn't cage much between the fifties and and (not going there.) I laughed at the teachers name. My eighth grade teacher was Miss Butts and yes, she had a large posterior. They didn't ever mispronounce her name.

This reminds me of a prank some students played on me - i had wondered about posting it. Perhaps I should! It is a great story, although I feel sorry for her trying to teach teenage boys with a name like that!

OMG! Boys are boys! This is too much! This is taking the antics to the next level. Wonder how Mrs Tits ( sometimes I too become gramatically challenged) must have felt when she witnessed the new table arrangements. Did she have to 'stand' on her head to address the class? Was she good in Yogic postures? What a story. Much enjoyed!

I'm glad I wasn't teaching that class! Talking of unfortunate names for teachers, I once inducted a student-teacher called Miss Yawn. Sadly, she lived up to the name.
I wonder what Damon the Demon does for a living nowadays. Reality TV?

As always with your flash fiction humor I am equal parts impressed with your imagination wondering what hijinx occurred that allowed you the vehicle to embellish and still make anyone who survived sixth grade remember their own version of Mrs Tats...and the crazy things some of the more rambunctious kids did! --God Bless teachers!---Karenina

Ah, Sigh. I guess as annoying as that all is. These days the kids are hacking into the school system's database and changing information such as grades. Things were much simpler then. I hope the demon boys got some furniture moving workout.

As a former teacher, I don't find the boys' antics amusing. I'm sure they thought it was hilarious, but they were probably encouraged to go on to more serious misbehavior in the future. I hope they suffered some consequences. Wonder if their parents were informed about their behavior? That's the age for deviltry. Mispronouncing her name certainly wouldn't have won them any favors, either. judy

The prankster's brain runs rampant in schools. Your amusing tale makes me so glad I never took up teaching. Teachers deserve medals (I wonder if Mrs Tats had a good pair to pin a medal on?)
