Hello author,
You write as the conscience of this world. We all need God in our lives.
I like the somber, straightforward way you make your argument.
This is an exceptional poem. One worth saving and contest winning caliber.
Good luck with all your writing.
Best wishes,
Cindy

I remember reading this a few days ago and thought I'd responded to it. Your free verse flows easily and the points you make are telling. There has been a huge shift in community attitudes during my lifetime. Self-absorption, instant gratification and retreat into a virtual world all play their part in creating this parlous state we're in. You poem lays it out well.

Sorry I missed this dear. Yes, the signs of the times are upon us. Much has been happening for awhile, like the erosion of family and marriages. But lately, it has accelerated and the signs are converging. I think the Lord's coming is close. I believe in the rapture as stated in 1 Thessalonians 4. God's judgment will follow for seven long years, after that is Armageddon. I had hoped to write more on these things, putting it all in easy to understand terms. That's been the hard part. Sending you my best today as always,

Thanks for the excellent review and for all the words of support for the piece, as well as your interesting perspective. The separation between the World and the body of Christ is underway. The world is turning its back on God in favor of making people into their own gods, constructing their own belief systems, and preaching self love and empowerment. This is what I was trying to get across, how much people have turned from faith in God into faith in themselves, science, and technology. estory

Great points Estory. This is a really well written lamentation for our dying nation. Thought the lines how this world has forgotten Christ and His gracious sacrifice were very true. Wonderful work with this powerful piece of poetry.

Thanks so much for the excellent review and I am glad you thought the writing powerful enough to bring this sense of a world that has forgotten God to life. estory

Well said estory. I wish it were not quite like you describe it, but I'm afraid you are far more right than wrong. I try to remember, what we see on the news each night is disturbing and sad, but what we find in our neighbors and friends is quite a different story. There must be millions of good and decent and God-honoring people still found around the world. They just rarely make the news. Thanks for your poem. It gives us much to think about. MM

Thanks for the excellent review and your interesting comments about the poem. You are right of course about the faithful who don't get into the news, but it is like Jesus said: "the way is wide that leads to hell, and you must look to the narrow door to heaven." estory

I thought I was a fan of yours. I guess not. I will make that happen ASAP. Yes, our world is in a huge mess right now. We have forgotten basic things like how to treat others and our morals. Thank you for sharing this poem with us.

Thanks so much for the excellent review and your comments supporting the poem. A world without God in it cannot long survive. The light is just around the corner, but the darkest hour is just before dawn. estory

You are so right we have forgotten who we are and what's our mission on planet earth. From the children of God, we become the slaves of convenience and superficiality. Thank you for sharing and good luck with your writings.

Thanks so much for the excellent review and I am glad you found the piece resonated so much with your own experience. The meaning of life is to learn how to love other people, not ourselves, and to bring glory to God, not ourselves. This is the contrast between the world and Christ nowadays. estory

I enjoyed this poem despite not being a Christian. I am too troubled by our over reliance on technology and how so many of us have many virtual friends but real friends are few and far between. I like the last line the best We are lost somewhere in a loop of computer graphics
on a video game distraction in the middle of nowhere
so true.

We have become addicted to things that bring us short-term benefits while disregarding our long-term goals. It is killing our dreams and drastically reducing the quality of our lives. You have hit the nail on the head by a powerful poem. Thanks for sharing!
