I really enjoyed reading your story. You have such a wonderful way with words and are quite adept at expressing yourself. I found this writing to be very interesting. It held my attention throughout. Your vivid descriptions made it easy for me to visualize the scenario you were writing about. Excellent job!

Ciao poet! I gave you your first vote!

I definitely would not want to lose my sight..without I would not be independent ..

I love watching , discovering fauna and flora .. I would miss these wondrous things

I love watching black & white films etc

I also would give up the sense of smell .. smoking , strong scents like perfume give me all headaches so not having smell doesn't sound that bad to me .

I enjoyed your essay..

Sadly, in the past women were not aware that smoking and drinking alcohol while pregnant was unhealthy for the unborn...

... on the other hand YOU were blessed in founding your soulmate .. your significant other...

who is there for you when your ( poor ) senses fail you.

Your choices were well defended and your prose was excellent. I like the way you tied the choices to your own life and great that your wife compliments you so. Good luck in the contest.

You did a good job giving readers some history of how your birth affected your senses, Mystery Author..

retarred--->retarded [this word isn't used much anymore, though at the time was used a lot]
supervision--->superior
A1/4deaf---one quarter deaf

I believe you included more than one of the sense you would not wish to lose, even though you named one in the end. I would expand on that one and cut out some of the others mentioned as they confuse the issue. However, just my opinion--I'll defer to the judges. Best wishes.
Thanks for sharing.
Respectfully, Jan

Your essay is interesting with a lot of detail. I liked reading about your sensory experiences.

Check out the following paragraph for some suggested edits:

Well, I am half blind, ¼ *(completely) deaf, and half nose blind as *(blindness) *(as well)well. But I tested as a genius *(and was) was reading at the 16 grade (college-level highest score) level in the first grade and got 750 on my history advance *(Advanced) placement SAT score -- only one of eight people to score so high in the entire country.. *(I should)Should have majored in history at University.

I hope this is helpful. Good luck to you in the contest. Have a great week.
