We have contracts all over the place, so why not have one to legitimize the marriage partnership? If a guy wants to weasel out of it, at least he will have to go through channels to do it. It's certainly more significant for a woman, as she's the one who could be left holding the baby. I like your retort. judi

I never have a six for the rants that move me most. Damnit! If the piece of paper doesn't mean anything, then why the hell to we bother to collect degrees and rewards? Smart combacks for the jerk who choose to use the irksome line. Money and deeds are jut pieces of a paper. Of course since so many marriages don't seem to last that lone. Walking away is easier with out the piece of paper making more paper necessary

I am so glad I've not heard that. LOL I probably wouldn't have been lady like. My husband views that piece of paper like a vow, or a Christian Ritual. So I think I am fairly safe. LOL Things could change. Thank you for sharing.
