We have contracts all over the place, so why not have one to legitimize the marriage partnership? If a guy wants to weasel out of it, at least he will have to go through channels to do it. It's certainly more significant for a woman, as she's the one who could be left holding the baby. I like your retort. judi

In retrospect, I'd have been better off had the "Dicks" declined to marry me.

My snappy comebacks are never spontaneous--although these came to me quicker whilst writing versus in real life!

I know what you mean. I can always think of some snappy comeback after the fact. judi

Ha, ha, ha nice rant and very well said, for some it's a piece of paper for other it's a death sentence:) ""I'll find someone else to co-sign; now scoot!"" Thank you for sharing and good luck with your writings.

Hah! Oh those great comebacks! As for me, I always think of them about a week after I really needed them! So TRUE! (It'd be pathetic if it wasn't also hysterical!)-- (I love your "almost" cross outs...they always crack me up!)---Karenina

I so get that... Still, one day with your wit and quick thinking! I could rule the world! (Or at least get a quip or two into some people on my growl list)---

I never have a six for the rants that move me most. Damnit! If the piece of paper doesn't mean anything, then why the hell to we bother to collect degrees and rewards? I mean, they really don't matter much, they don't truly make us more money, unless we choose the right field. But they do get us in the door, and we can't write them ourselves. Huh, wait a minute . . . maybe I can. Thanks for sharing.

Smart combacks for the jerk who choose to use the irksome line. Money and deeds are jut pieces of a paper. Of course since so many marriages don't seem to last that lone. Walking away is easier with out the piece of paper making more paper necessary

hahaha... yes indeed. The value of a piece of paper varies depending on what is perceived as a win or a loss. Signing on the dotted line makes some men freak out.

I am so glad I've not heard that. LOL I probably wouldn't have been lady like. My husband views that piece of paper like a vow, or a Christian Ritual. So I think I am fairly safe. LOL Things could change. Thank you for sharing.

Oh your humor is in top form today... I have heard the above and I find your retort to be perfect! Or what's the other saying...Why buy the cow if the milk is already free. Nothing is labeled free... just in case they didn't know it. Smiles, Carol
