This is a great poem of faith, particularly in view of the fact that it is based on a real-life event. We know our vulnerability when we are at the mercy of the sea, and call on the one who has power over nature. Well written. Best wishes for the contest.

A beautiful tribute to the commercial fishing boat, starbound run down by a Russian tanker off the Massachusetts coast leaving only one survivor from the crew of four!

This spiritual poem is a good response for the contest that speaks to the topic of faith.
It is a fitting tribute to the life lost on the fishing boat, Starbound.
Nicely done.

One wonders if the Speaker literally has set sail upon the seas or if he's referring to his life's journey which may separate him occasionally from loved ones and friends. It's easy to visualize him grasping that rail and praying to God for safe delivery. Four easy-flowing stanzas with natural rhymes.

Dear Mystery Poet,
What a beautiful name for a boat! (ship?) And you've used it to great advantage here in this poem - pointing those poor, lost sailors directly to a better place.
It's a beautiful poem of hope and faith. Thanks and good luck!

Excellent entry into the faith contest. I can only imagine, and even that on a brave starry night, how absolutely disastrous an accident at sea is. Based on a true story, your faith shone through brilliantly like a star.
Wishing you much luck with the voters.

Sad, I wonder what the consequences for the Russian Tanker were for taking three lives? Great poem, the sea is totally unpredictable and also the many vessels that do not employ any lookouts.
While in the US Navy, witnessed a collision between a Chinese tanker and a commercial fishing vessel, just off the coast of Hong Kong. We pulled survivors from the water before the Chinese coastal patrol got there and through a translator learned the real story. The Chinese put out a much different version later, blaming the wreck on the Hong Kong vessel.
